The best Great League Remix Pokémon to have ready

Date:

Pokémon GO Battle League Season Seven is almost here, which means the Great League Remix format is approaching. Here are some of the best Pokémon to have ready for the format.

The Great League Remix changes things up in the Pokémon GO Battle League. By banning the top picks from previous Great League formats, Niantic is forcing players to bring new Pokémon into the mix. Here are the Pokémon that players can’t use.

  1. Venusaur
  2. Raichu and Alolan Raichu
  3. Marowak and Alolan Marowak
  4. Azumarill
  5. Umbreon
  6. Skarmory
  7. Swampert
  8. Galvantula
  9. Stunfisk and Galarian Stunfisk
  10. Talonflame

With these out of the way, here are several Pokémon that should really shine.

Best Great League Remix Pokémon

Bastiodon was powerful before and will continue to be. It’s ranked the fifth-best Pokémon on gamepress.gg’s Great League tier list, and it should continue to be a threat. Bastiodon boasts extremely high Defense and HP stats and has a great coverage move in Flamethrower, which helps it against Steel and Grass-type threats.

Registeel has been a staple in the Great League format since the GO Battle League first came out. It didn’t make the ban list, however, so it will still be legal for use. Like Bastiodon, it’s bulky, but its mono-Steel typing helps give it plenty of nice resistances. Talonflame and Swampert’s bans should help it out even more in this format.

Altaria is another Great League staple, but it fell out of favor a little bit after the release of Galarian Stunfisk. Dragon Breath is an excellent fast attack that does good damage. It also enjoys a decent Defense stat, which gives it plenty of time to charge up Sky Attack or Dragon Pulse.

Meganium should be a suitable replacement for Venasaur. It has access to Frenzy Plant, an excellent Grass-type charge move, along with Earthquake to help deal with Steel-type threats like Bastiodon and Registeel.

Having a good Fighting-type option will be important, and Medicham is a solid pick. Medicham is versatile and can learn charge moves like Ice Punch to deal with Flying or Grass-type threats, as well as Psychic or Power-Up Punch. This can help throw opponents off guard.

Other notable mentions are Whiscash who could replace Swampert, Tropius as a Grass option, Lapras, Sableye and Hypno. Pokémon GO’s Great League Remix format starts on April 12.
