TeSeS: “It’s very tough; there’s a lot of hate going on”

Date:

The Heroic lineup took part in a press conference ahead of the ESL Pro League Season 14 playoffs on Monday, making their first public appearance in front of members of the press since Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen claimed that some of his teammates from the 2020 Heroic team were aware of his exploitation of the coaching bug while it was happening.

In one of few references to the allegations in the hour-long session, René “TeSeS” Madsen spoke out as one of the two players directly implicated by his former coach when answering a question about how the situation is affecting the team.

“Well, it’s very tough, to be honest,” the 20-year-old said. “There’s a lot of hate going on, but we have [faced] so much noise before when we have played and we have always performed under it. It’s not like I’m completely used to it, but I’m always 100% focused when I play.”

It was clear that the team didn’t wish to comment any further than that, with Casper “cadiaN” Møller beginning the press conference by acknowledging the hot topic around the team and asking the press to refrain from asking questions about the allegations.

“I obviously know that there is great interest in asking a lot of questions, and obviously the hot topic for everyone is the HUNDEN situation,” the captain said. “Please, just refrain from asking questions because you won’t get an answer.” Apart from TeSeS‘ comments, the players did not respond to the allegations after that point.

cadiaN only went on to say that the team is in the process of assessing how to communicate their side and referred to talks happening between Heroic and ESIC: “We are in talks with the right people about how we want to communicate this at a later point, and this is not with the media, this is with ESIC and other people.”

ESIC has yet to comment on whether they will pursue action against the Heroic players after HUNDEN claimed that he had sent all of the relevant material in his possession to the Commission, some of which has been revealed to the public in a recent article by TV2.

That included a conversation between HUNDEN and Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen (who represented Heroic when HUNDEN used the bug), in which the latter was quoted as saying that everyone knew, as well as a server log from one of the matches in which the coach exploited the bug, which implies that TeSeS helped HUNDEN reach the position which the coach then used to trigger the bug.
