This 18-year-old Brisbane girl has just bought a house.
AN 18-year-old girl with cerebral palsy has just bought her first home after beating three other bidders at auction.
The Brisbane teenager used Trust money from a medical payout to help buy the home in Brisbane’s north for $1.025m, with the TAFE student bursting into tears when the hammer fell.

“I just really wanted to show my family and myself that I’m able to do things that I never thought I was capable of doing and I have a twin sister who is disabled and I wanted to show her that she is able to do anything that she puts her mind to and she can come and stay here if she likes,” Angela said.
A crowd of 40 witnessed the emotional event with onlookers shocked when the eventual buyer was revealed.
The auction day crowd take their places before Harcourts auctioneer Christian Hamilton begins.
“My youngest is 20 and he’s not standing, competing and having the courage to do something like that on his own,” Harcourts Solutions founding director Martin Millard said afterwards. “Eighteen-year-olds are not buying real estate. It’s a beautiful story, it’s an extraordinary story.”
Angela stood in front of the letterbox of the four-bedroom brick house she was determined to buy, with Harcourts estate agent Marie Stead bidding on her behalf and her mother on the phone. “I got mum’s okay,” she said.
“I just fell in love with the place as soon as I saw it and she wants the best for her children so she decided to do whatever she could for us.
The four-bedroom low-set home had been marketed by Harcourts Solutions Group agent Rochelle Adgo.
“I don’t have a job at the moment, but I did get a payout from the hospital because I was born with a disability that could have been diagnosed earlier, so I’m using my Trust money from that to pay for the house.”

Angela finished Year 12 at the end of 2020 and is currently studying a Certificate Three in Early Childhood.
“I didn’t know what to expect,” she said in a shaky voice.
“It was way more intense than any Year 12 exam.”
The auction was part of a Harcourts Solutions auction bonanza hosted by agent Rochelle Adgo to kick off the 2022 auction season in Brisbane’s north.
The auction opened with a phone bid of $940,000. Angela came in straight after with a bid of $950,000. An older couple with young children also took part. The auction paused at $1.01m during which Angela increased her offer to $1.025m and the property sold. The auction was one of 80 scheduled across Greater Brisbane on Saturday.
