The U.S. lost in their semifinal game against Spain earlier that day, 18-16, after going into overtime.
This is the second time the USA has placed on the podium in 3×3 basketball. The USA women won gold in the inaugural 3×3 basketball event at the last Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Germany defeated Spain in the gold medal game.
