Eurogamer Newscast: PlayStation State of Play digested

This week on the Eurogamer Newscast, we're sharing our thoughts on last night's big PlayStation State of Play event.

To some extent, Sony had set expectations for what the night would bring. This was an event which focused on third-party announcements, almost exclusively from Japan. But what we expected (Final Fantasy!) was not quite what we got (The DioField Chronicle!) and what we initially thought we were seeing (Dino Crisis!) turned out to be something else entirely (Exoprimal, which looks a bit like Anthem).

Bandai Namco announces rerelease of PS3 Jojo fighting game, titled All Star Battle R

Jojo All Star Battle R rerelease JolyneIt only makes sense that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure would receive a number of video game adaptations considering the sheer popularity of both the original manga series and anime. Although the Capcom-developed arcade fighting game released in 1998 probably still stands as the best of these adaptations, the more recent Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle still has its merits — at least from an aesthetic standpoint. As a fighting game, it feels far too clunky and unwieldy. But as a piece of fan service, it mostly succeeds. Fortunately for Jojo fans who missed out on this game when it came out, Bandai Namco just announced an updated rerelease of the title, dubbed Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, during today’s PlayStation State of Play presentation. According to Bandai Namco’s official website, All Star Battle R serves as “the biggest game ever in the franchise.” Whereas the original release capped out at 41 playable charac...

However, this quickly changes as beneath the beauty lies some dangerous creatures that you will encounter on your journey. We see a dangerous dragon and enemies known as Gigas, adorned with an orange glow.   Luckily, Frey wields a range of powers that can be used to fight against these creatures. We see some of the abilities that you can learn as you progress through the game....

The PlayStation State of Play is finished! In case you missed it, here's everything announced during the broadcast, including all the trailers.
