Less than two weeks ago, developer GSC Game World announced that it would put the development of Stalker 2 on hold for now. This decision ultimately came off as more than justified. After all, GSC Game World hails from Ukraine, and as you undoubtedly already know, Ukraine has remained under attack by Russia for a few weeks now. Although the developers have rightly prioritized their own safety as well as the safety of their families amidst this conflict, this has not stopped them from making one more change to Stalker 2. The subtitle for Stalker 2, formerly Heart of Chernobyl, has changed to Heart of Chornobyl to reflect the Ukrainian spelling.
As of right now, the developers have not officially announced their decision to change the subtitle’s spelling. However, the game’s Steam page has now adjusted the spelling of the title, as well as all references to the in-game location of Chornobyl. So far, the Xbox page for Stalker 2 has not made this spelling change.

The level is called One Humanity, and it's the first Doom II level from Romero since the game was originally released in 1994. An original copy of Doom II and a modern source port are required. You can buy the new level from Romero's website here.

Stalker 2 has been in development for quite some time, but progress has had to take a necessary pause. The game’s developer, GSC Game World, is Ukrainian. Due to the nation’s current circumstances, game development is, understandably, not a priority. Development of the game is actually based in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. So the safety of the people working on the title is of the utmost importance, hence the temporary break from forward progress. It is, of course, entirely unclear as to when development will be able to continue, as Ukraine is under attack by Russia.
The hiatus was announced today alongside a video published onto YouTube by GSC Game World. The video was initially planned as an update for fans of the game to be able to get a glimpse of how the motion capture system would work. For the first 30 seconds, this footage is shown, with actors wearing motion-capture suits and pointing prop firearms at one another.
But the video then cuts to recent foota...
