A new season of Stranger Things will air in May, and Far Cry 6 wants to get you in the mood. An update, available now, adds an entirely new mission strand to Ubisoft’s open world shooter, and it’s free for anyone who owns the title. Furthermore, if you haven’t taken a trip to Yara yet, the entire game is free to download and play until Sunday, on both the PlayStation 5 and PS4.
While it doesn’t really make narrative sense for the Upside Down to be integrated into Far Cry 6, you’ve got to remember this is a title that also found you fighting alongside Danny Trejo, so switch off your brain for a little bit. The presentation actually looks really strong here, with the Mind Flayer and Demogorgon both well represented – it might be the closest we get to a Stranger Things FPS.
If you like Far Cry and Netflix’s Stranger Things, do I have some news for you. Far Cry 6 is going free for a weekend to celebrate the release of its Stranger Things collaboration. You can download and play the game for no cost starting today. It’ll last until March 27, and if you want to play more, Ubisift is currently running a sale on the game.

Free of your gear and your faithful pup, Chorizo, you make your way through a lab to try and close the gate to the Upside Down. You’re armed with a pistol and a knife, and have to use stealth while you hunt down better weapons. There’s a special shotgun in the mix that fires incendiary shells, for when stealth takes a back seat. Regular owners of Far Cry 6 also get the mission for free.

If you're an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber in search of some video-game-shaped entertainment this weekend, you might want to point yourself in the direction of your Xbox, where Yakuza spin-off Lost Judgment, city builder Before We Leave, and Far Cry 6 are all free to play for a limited time.
Lost Judgment is the sequel to 2018's Judgment, and sees the return of protagonist Takayuki Yagami, an ex-defence-attorney turned private detective, for an possibly even more sprawling open-world adventure through Kamurocho and Isezaki Ijincho. Things take a darker turn this time, however, with a story of sexual assault, suicide and bullying centring around a school where much of the investigatory action takes place.
Mysteries and action will turn your world upside down this weekend in Free Play Days. Lost Judgment, Before We Leave, and Far Cry 6 are all available this weekend for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play from Thursday, March 24 at 12:01 a.m. PST until Sunday, March 27 at 11:59 […]
