Every Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Color Released So Far

The Nintendo Switch continues to be a massive hit more than five years after its launch. It's a console that's perfect for use at home or when you're on the go. One of the cleverest elements of the Switch's design are the Joy-Con--detachable controllers that amplify the hybrid nature of this hardware. That detachable focus also gives the Switch a highly-customizable format, one that Nintendo has capitalized on over the years with special-edition console bundles and unique controller color schemes.

While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, every Joy-Con does look great when in hand. Whether it be standard gray or vibrant green, they're eye-pleasing expressions of creativity. We've gathered up every official release below, just in case you felt like taking a tour through Switch history. Some of these sets are hard to find nowadays for a number of reasons, so completing your North American isn't super straightforward. And yes, sometimes Switch owners do have to purchase new pairs of Joy-Con not because they want a new color scheme but due to the unfortunate issue of Joy-Con drift. At least Joy-Con controllers look cool, right?

Original Gray Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

While it's easily the plainest color possible for a console that's capable of transmitting beautifully vibrant images, the gray Joy-Con still have an air of sophistication and quality to them. Nondescript and classy, it's the best shade of gray that Nintendo could have chosen when the Switch first hit the market, and five years later, they're still a handsome pair.

Original Neon Red and Blue Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

On the other side of the fence, the original Neon Red and Blue Joy-Con simply screamed "Nintendo" as loud as they could from a nearby mountaintop. Compared to the glossy and matte black color schemes chosen by Sony and Microsoft for their controllers, these Joy-Con stood out from the pack as they blended a unique design with eye-catching colors.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Gray Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

For those of you who wanted the gray Joy-Con with a hint of flair but didn't want it to be too flagrant, this Super Smash Bros. Ultimate controller would meet those very specific needs! A splash of 90- and 180-degree gray lines that tie into the game, the same gray aesthetic as the original Joy-Con, and a reminder that drab can be delightful were hallmarks of this design.

Pikachu and Eevee Pokemon Let's Go! Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

The special-edition Joy-Con for Pokemon Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu were…kind of weird. With both of them attached, the end result looked like a caramel bar in your left hand and a slice of custard cake in your right hand. Still, the colors looked great and unusual, so they had some charm.

Super Mario Red Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

How red can a Joy-Con get? Really really red as evidenced by these Super Mario-themed special-edition controllers. Dashing in their bright crimson design, this pair of peripherals were perfect for expressing your fondness for Nintendo's favorite plumber, and they stood out from a mile away with their daring design. These red Joy-Con were only available with the Mario Red and Blue edition Nintendo Switch console, which came with a matching red console, dock, and carrying case. While you can't find this console for retail price nowadays, it's not as expensive as you might expect through third-party sellers.

Neon Pink and Green Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

You don't see a watermelon combination of pink and green too often when it comes to accessories, but this daring combo of primary colors found a perfect home with the Nintendo Switch. More neon than the set of Blade Runner, this duo made for a delightful pairing on the hybrid console.

Neon Yellow Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

They're…yellow Joy-Cons. I honestly don't know what else I can add to that revelation, other than the fun fact painting your room in the color is great because studies have shown that it can stimulate the mind. Or make you crave a banana for some unknown reason. Science. Unfortunately, a pair of Neon Yellow Joy-Con aren't available for retail price nowadays. Though you can still get a Neon Yellow right Joy-Con paired with a different color.

Neon Blue And Yellow Joy-Cons

No Caption Provided

They might be considered clashing colors, but there's something oddly mesmerizing about having both blue and yellow Joy-Con on a single Switch. Great for drawing attention and being visually upsetting when presented to a pedantic art school teacher.

Neon Green Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

These aren't just Neon Green Joy-Con, they're a pair of controllers that celebrate the true star of Nintendo, Luigi. Specifically, this peripheral pairing was a Best Buy-exclusive that released close to Luigi's Mansion 3's launch. They kind of look like Gooigi, the delightful pile of goop that looks like Luigi. As you might expect, these Joy-Con aren't available to purchase at retail price any longer.

Neon Purple And Orange Joy-Cons

No Caption Provided

Rounding out the neon collection of Joy-Con in bright purple and orange, this duo might just be the most vibrant of the lot! Plus, they're obviously Wario-approved.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

Sure, you've seen the blue and green controllers on this list already, but they sport a shade of color that's more energetic than a raccoon after it discovered sugar. The Animal Crossing controllers on the other hand are pure visual relaxation with its more muted usage of those colors, although if you want a pair, you'll need to shell out some cash for the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch bundle that they came with. Thankfully, the "limited-edition console" is still readily available at major retailers for its standard $300 list price.

Fortnite Limited Edition Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

Functionally identical to the Neon Yellow and Blue Joy-Con, the only other extra to tie into Fortnite was an image of the battle royale's iconic party bus on the right-hand controller, which was later replaced by the face of that creepy banana fella. There was also some included DLC such as 500 VBucks and the Fleet Force bundle, but otherwise these Joy-Cons were exhibiting some big Malibu Stacy new hat energy. You can still purchase them now for slightly above retail price.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

Now we're talking unique! The Skyward Sword Joy-Con consists of a left controller with a serene blue finish, while the right controller has a royal purple color scheme. Each controller also has Zelda iconography present, such as Triforce and Link symbols that emphasize the Hyrulian heritage to make them stand out. You don't need to buy a brand-new console to own them either, as this pair of Joy-Con was released alongside Skyward Sword HD and sold for the regular $80 price. It's not always easy to find the Skyward Sword Joy-Con in stock, but they pop up at various retailers every few weeks or so.

NES Joy-Con

No Caption Provided

While these controllers sported a premium price--$200 to be exact--they still deserve a spot on this list for being an incredible representation of the NES era. A much better application of the color gray that's capped off by vintage design elements and red face buttons, they're the perfect devices to use when you're reliving Nintendo's past with Switch Online games.

Monster Hunter Rise Joy-Cons

No Caption Provided

To celebrate the launch of Monster Hunter Rise on the Switch, Nintendo released a special-edition console bundle that was pure art. The game's unique aesthetic looked like it had been carved into the Switch and its dock, while the Joy-Con controllers took the default gray base and added some exotic pizzazz to them with even more etchings and elegant lines. Much like the Mario Switch bundle, the Monster Hunter Rise special-edition console isn't available for retail price these days. You can, however, purchase the console at a premium from third-party sellers. Big Monster Hunter fans may still be interested, especially since it also comes with a digital copy of the game.

Elden Ring: Where To Find The Icerind Hatchet

Finding all of the weapons in Elden Ring is half the fun, but finding one that suits your build just right can take some time. If you're looking for a frost build, wherein you build up the frost status effect on your enemies to reduce their damage absorption and stamina, you may want to take a look at the Icerind Hatchet. Don't worry, either, as we'll tell you exactly where you can round it up.

Icerind Hatchet explained

The Icerind Hatchet is an axe that requires 11 Strength and 16 Dexterity. It's a great option for those working towards a frost build, as it accumulates the status effect on enemies rather rapidly.

The axe's weapon skill is a hard-hitting AOE attack called Hoarfrost Stomp. Using it releases a trail of freezing mist in front of your character that builds up the frost status effect. Weaving it in with normal weapon swings will help you apply the effect very quickly.

The Icerind Hatchet item description reads:

A hatchet with a frost-coated blade. One of several gifts given by Castle Sol in the distant north. Known as "freezing fog," the blade is thought to be a dragon's scale. Inflicts a powerful frost effect.

Where to find the Icerind Hatchet

The Icerind Hatchet is located at the Temple Quarter in Liurnia of the Lakes, which makes it quite easy to round up relatively early in the game. Simply teleport to the closest Site of Grace you can find and head towards the area.

Temple Quarter

If you approach the Temple Quarter from the south, you'll find plenty of broken buildings to explore. Inside some of the rubble, you'll find a chest housing the Icerind Hatchet. Once you've grabbed it, you're all set to start stomping and freezing your foes in style.

Elden Ring Ranni The Witch Quest Guide

Elden Ring is full of interesting NPCs that want you to do them a favor or two. Usually these favors are asked in obtuse riddles and can leave you pretty confused on what exactly you're supposed to be doing. Ranni the Witch's questline in Elden Ring is one of the longer ones, with a few steps that could be easily missed. Here is how to complete Ranni the Witch's quest line and earn yourself the Dark Moon Greatsword.

Finding Ranni the Witch

Players will initially interact with Ranni the Witch after returning to the Church of Elleh in Limgrave early in the game, where she presents them with the Spirit Calling Bell. Players will not see her again until they reach Liurnia, where she can be found past Carnia Manor, in Ranni's Rise tower, the middle of the three. Ranni can be found at the top of the tower.

Ranni's Rise is in the northwest part of Liurnia.

Ranni will ask you to join her service and you need to accept. After that head down to the bottom floor of the tower and speak with her three lackeys. After that, speak to Ranni one more time before you are allowed to leave the tower. Ranni wants you to find the treasure of Nokron, Eternal City and bring it back to her. Here, she will tell you to meet up with another of her associates and explore the underground Siofra Well. Don't bother, because the entrance to Nokron, Eternal City is locked until you defeat General Radhan, the shardbearer located in Caelid. His castle is in the southeast.

Once defeated, all of the stars Radhan was holding back will return to the sky, with one massive one crashing into the Lands Between. The NPCs hanging out after the Radhan fight will tell you it landed somewhere in Limgrave.

Nokron, Eternal City

The hole that leads to Nokron is in the red circle.

The hole is located in East Limgrave, south of the Mistwood Ruins. If you look into the sky, you will see a bunch of floating rocks. The entrance to Nokon, Eternal City is directly below those rocks, so you can use them as a guide. When you arrive at the hole, you will see a bunch of floating rocks leading further into the hole. Using Torrent, platform your way into the hole. You will enter some ruins and if you head a little further, you will find yourself jumping across some gothic rooftops.

After navigating across the rooftops, you will come to a small plaza, where the Nokron Site of Grace is located. Forward and slightly to the right you will see an archway that looks like it leads into a building. Instead, there will be an alleyway that leads to a cliffside. Head towards it and you will discover a staircase heading right. From here, head forward until you reach an area blocked by boss fog. In here you will fight the Mimic Tear boss, which will mimic your current equipment and weapons. An easy way to beat this boss is to remove all of your equipment before entering and then quickly putting it back on after the mimic takes form. This will leave it without armor or a weapon.

The treasure of Nokron is located within the Night's Sacred Ground.

After defeating the Mimic Tear, there will be a bridge heading north in front of you. Follow this bridge until there is a grassy forest area on your left hand side. Head down and head towards the left cliff wall and continue heading forward while hugging the wall. Eventually there will be an opening with a Site of Grace heading towards some more gothic rooftops. You will need to jump onto the side of a building and navigate further into this area. You will eventually fight two more mimics that turn into generic enemies and find yourself looking at an arch with a road below.

Drop down to your left and head into the church-like building. There is a chest with the Fingerslayer Blade, which is the item you were looking for.

The Ansel River

After speaking with the Ranni doll, you want to head south through the river.

Head back to Ranni's Rise and speak with Ranni. She will tell you your task is complete and that she will be taking a nap. After this, Ranni's Rise, the first of the Three Sisters towers in this area, will now be unlocked. Head inside and you will find Ranni's armor set, with the Snow Witch Hat, Robe, and Skirt. At the top of the tower is a teleport gate, which will take you to Ansel River Main, where a Site of Grace will be right in front of you. Right next to that is the Ranni the Witch doll. Pick that up, rest at the Site of Grace and you will have the option to speak with the doll.

It will ignore you the first few times but eventually the doll will acknowledge that it is in fact actually Ranni, who was attempting to hide from some would-be assassin's that are down in the Ansel River. You will need to track down these assassin's and defeat them. From here, head south through the river. You will quickly approach the Uhl Palace Ruins, head through them to find a small river tunnel. Continue forward until you reach a cavern full of flying giant ants. Head to the right and you will find some more gothic buildings. Head through the door on the left and you will reach the Nokstella, Eternal City Site of Grace.

From here, head down to the right and follow the river northwest.

There will be a set of stairs to your left and a ground level path to the right. Take the ground level path on the right and follow the river until you reach a small building on the left, with an elevator in it. Take the elevator down and you will find the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace in front of you. There will be a cave directly in front of you that will lead straight to the invasion fight you need to complete. Within the cave are a bunch of lizards that inflict the death status effect that will kill you instantly if the meter fills. Sprint past them and you will enter a red-tinged area where you will find the Baleful Shadow, which looks similar to another NPC Blaidd but isn't actually him.

Defeat the Baleful Shadow and Ranni will give you the Discarded Palace Key. From here enter the building in the southeast corner of this area and take the elevator down to the Lake of Rot Shoreside Site of Grace. Activate this, as we will need to come back later. From here, fast travel to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library. This is where the Rennala boss fight took place, in the academy in the center of the Liurnia lake. Sitting to the left of the Site of Grace is a chest that was locked. The Discarded Palace Key opens this chest, which contains the inside of the chest is the Dark Moon Ring, which we will need later. Fast travel back to the Lake of Rot.

The Lake of Rot

The building in the distance is where you need to go from the Lake of Rot Shoreside.

Once back at the Lake of Rot, head down to the edge of the water. From here, you are trying to reach a building to the south. You cannot use Torrent here, so you will need either Preserving Boluses to get rid of Scarlet Rot or a high number of Crimson Flasks to continuously restore health. There are a few pressure plates that lift up platforms you can stand on between you and the building, but not enough to make a complete bridge. There is a Site of Grace inside the building once you reach it, so don't worry about using all of your flasks trying to get across the lake.

The building is called the Grand Cloister and is filled with bug warriors, the ones typically found in Caelid. You will have to jump down onto ground level, where there will be a small red river flowing west. Follow this a short way until you find a stone coffin sitting on the edge of a waterfall. The game will prompt you to get into the coffin, which is how you advance to the next area.

Take a short ride in a coffin.

You will find yourself in a new underground lake area, except this one just has regular water instead of scarlet rot, advance forward and you will find a boss fight. Here you will have to fight Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, a space scorpion-like creature. After defeating the boss there will be a sealed door at the back of the arena, which is opened by the Dark Moon Ring. Follow the pathway through the cave until you reach an elevator and take that elevator up.

Moonlight Altar

The elevator after the boss fight will take you to the Moonlight Altar, with your next destination to the north.

You will emerge on a high plateau in the Liurnia region, which is not accessible through other means. From where you emerge you want to head north up the hill into the Cathedral of Manus Celes. The path is straight forward but you will want to hop on Torrent. Right as you are about to enter the cathedral, a Glintstone Dragon boss will spawn directly in front of the church. If you are on Torrent you can ride past the dragon inside, where you will find a Site of Grace. To the right of that is a tunnel heading beneath the cathedral. It's fairly dark, so you will want a torch or lantern. You will need to drop down into the hole by dropping onto different ledges heading downward.

Continue along the path in the caverns until you come across Ranni's real body in a cavern. Here you will put the Dark Moon Ring on her hand and pledge your allegiance to her. She will tell you to continue your journey to become the Elden Lord and that when the time comes you two shall rule together.

After she vanishes, you will find the Dark Moon Greatsword, a powerful magic greatsword that requires 38 intelligence to wield.
