T1 go the distance against Virtus Pro, win ESL One Summer 2021

Published

on

T1 carried over their impressive play from the WePlay Esports AniMajor directly into ESL One Summer 2021, dropping just a single series to Virtus Pro before coming back and winning the Dota 2 event.

VP knocked T1 out of the upper bracket in the finals with a 2-1 victory but failed to close out in the grand finals, losing 3-2 against the top team in Southeast Asia.

Heading into their rematch with VP, T1 had only lost two games, sweeping Vikin.gg, Quincy Crew, and Alliance to make it to the grand finals. A dominant game one from 23savage’s Phantom Assassin helped T1 grab the match victory, but VP once again took control of the series after the opener.

Following that game one loss, VP took games two and three in rather dominant fashion, never trailing outside of the opening minutes in either contest. Those wins were fueled by Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko, who went a combined 21-0-21 for 46,200 hero damage on Juggernaut and Faceless Void.

Despite falling behind again, T1 maintained their aggressive playstyle, pushing their advantages and showing why many think they had the best teamfight in the entire event.

In two closeout games, T1 pulled away late and staved off VP and took the series, taking home $175,000.

Even with this loss, VP had a great showing, bouncing back from a poor performance at the AniMajor to contend with many of the top teams in the world. Both T1 and VP will take this experience into their bootcamps for The International 10, where both teams will compete on Dota’s biggest stage starting Aug. 5.

PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021 unveiled with $6 million prize pool

Published

on

Tencent Games officially revealed the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021 today during the World Invitational (PMWI). It will take place from November 2021 to January 2022 and crown a world champion.

The PMGC will be the “biggest event in PUBG Mobile esports,” according to Tencent Games director of PUBG Mobile global esports James Yang, and comes with a humongous prize pool of $6 million—three times the prize money that was up for grabs during the last edition of the competition.

Just like last year, the PMGC 2021 will be split into the league and final stages. The league will take place in November and December 2021. The finals, on the other hand, will occur in January 2022. The company will reveal more information about the slots and schedule at a later date, according to Yang.

The team with the most points from the league stage and finals of both seasons of each PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) in 2021 will qualify for the PMGC. Aside from that, the top teams from the regional championships will also book slots at the Global Championship.

It hasn’t been confirmed if the upcoming PMGC will be a live event. Yang told Dot Esports over an email that Tencent is “trying hard” to hold the PMGC 2021 as an offline event, but there was “too much uncertainty” to guarantee anything at this point. He added that they were looking at several locations and venues.

Tencent will likely be a lot more careful this year after several players tested positive for COVID-19 during the 2020 finals of the PMGC. It was initially supposed to be held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates from Jan. 21 to 24, 2021. Just a day before it began, however, Tencent announced that three players had tested positive. As a result, the rest of the players competed in isolation from their hotel rooms.

With the world battling a surge in coronavirus cases due to the delta variant, Tencent will be hoping the pandemic calms down before the PMGC begins in November.

Apex Legends Bug Hints at Possible Mastiff Hop-Up

A new bug that appeared in Apex Legends could hint at a new hop-up coming to the Mastiff in Season 10.

Apex Legends players have uncovered a bug in the Arena mode that gives Mastiff a hop-ups lot it previously never had. According to Apex veterans, the last time a similar bug appeared, that weapon ended up with its own hop-up shortly afterward—or, at the very least, a new slot to apply one. After all, the most recent patch notes didn’t mention a new hop-up for the shotgun model.

Could the Mastiff be getting a hop-up?

The bug was first brought to light on the official Apex Legends subreddit board by Reddit user Happyboo56, posting an image of the slot bug early on Friday, July 23. In their post, they included a screenshot of the Mastiff shotgun with a slot available for a hop-up. The bug appeared in the Arena mode and on the upgraded Mastiff.

When players queue for Arenas, they’re able to choose loadouts and buy upgrades for their weapons between every round. This makes the circumstances for the bug unusually particular. The user did not mention what would’ve happened if they tried to apply a hop-up using the revealed slot.

“In arenas upgraded mastiff has a hop-up slot,” they wrote, “Possible hop-up for mastiff incoming or just a bug?”

Apparently, they aren’t the only one to encounter this bug either. A handful of commenters revealed they had the bug show up for them, too, with one noting they “stupidly upgraded to the best level just for nothing lol.”

Fellow players weighed in on the situation with the majority following Happyboo56’s logic, as well as supplementing it with additional evidence. Most believed the bug was a hop-up signifier for Mastiff.

“I had a bug In season 8 when Sentinel In my inventory got 5 hop-up slots,” Alfanef wrote.

Drmanowar8 replied, “Yea but the sentinel did end up getting a hop-up, so maybe we’ll get one for the mastiff?”

Others added that the Mastiff is noted to use “incendiary rounds” in the Titanfall lore. With the Rampage coming in Season 10 looking to apply the same or similar effect, players noted that it’s possible developers were looking to have Mastiff live up to its reputation. Of course, in lieu of a burning shotgun, there was no shortage of additional ideas in the post’s comments.

Shruggletuggle suggested, “Maybe we get slugs, longer range but less damage?”

“I would take a hop-up for the Mastiff + 30-30 Repeater that lets you reload 2 shots at a time instead of one,” Suasiv wrote.

Respawn Entertainment and the development team behind Apex Legends have yet to confirm any changes for the Mastiff in Season 10.

Pokémon UNITE Crustle Build

Crustle is outperforming all of the other tanks at the moment

Crustle is outperforming all of the other tanks at the moment / Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and TiMi Studios

Pokémon UNITE Crustle and their build path has a few key moves and held items that will give you the edge on your opponents.

Crustle happens to be the best tank in Pokémon UNITE at the moment, according to Pokemonunite.gg’s tier list. Fury Cutter and X-Scissor provide Crustle with a lot of damage for a tank, as well as the utility that comes from Rock Tomb and his UNITE skill, Rubble Rouser.

Build Path

Fury Cutter will want to be the first move you pick up. Fury Cutter allows for quick clears on Wild Pokémon, helping you level up from Dwebble into the mighty Crustle. Each hit on Fury Cutter buffs up the last, meaning by the time it’s your fourth or fifth hit, you will big be doing big damage to either Wild Pokémon or other players.

After Furry Cutter, prioritize Rock Tomb and X-Scissor, as those as your other strongest moves.

Held Items

Assault Vest, Rocky Helmet, and Aeos Cookie are Crustle’s strongest held items at the moment. Assault Vest and Aeos Cookie compliment Crustle’s tankiness, while Rocky Helmet will get a lot of value as you will be taking a lot of hits from players.

Assualt Vest will also combat a lot of the strong special attackers at the moment like Alolan Ninetails or Gengar.

Rocky Helmet is particularly good here since Crustle has a lot of shields. The item will deal percent damage to nearby opponents based on how much damage you take, whether shield or health damage.

For your item, you want to take Eject Button to quickly teleport around the map to score points from dunking or set up plays for your team.
