Suzuki to launch five EVs by 2030

Date:

Suzuki has outlined its electrification strategy, which includes the launch of five new electric vehicles by 2030.

The first EV is due to arrive in Europe in 2024, followed by four more cars in the SUV and B-segments.

Suzuki’s new strategy is revealed just weeks after the brand unveiled the eVX concept, a mid-size electric SUV that has a 60kWh battery. The new model is due to launch in 2025, sitting above the existing Vitara model.

Suzuki extended its electrified model range in 2022 through the launch of the first full hybrid versions of its Vitara SUV and S-Cross.

The new derivatives joined existing mild hybrid models in the respective line-ups and feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine combined with a small electric motor to deliver a 115PS power output and CO2 emissions from 121g/km.

Suzuki’s range already features a range of mild hybrid models, while a partnership with Toyota introduced the Corolla-based Swace hybrid estate car and Across plug-in hybrid SUV to its showrooms back in 2020.

The Japanese brand also outlined plans to introduce an electric motorcycle in 2024, with a range of eight models offered by 2030.

Suzuki also expects to achieve carbon neutrality of domestic plants in 2035.
