Today, service providers are increasingly rolling out real-time services that rely on AI and instantaneous response times, which are ideally suited for FPGA-based acceleration. This week at XDF Europe 2019, three companies joined Salil Raje, executive vice president and general manager of the Data Center Group at Xilinx, on stage to announce new solutions powered by Xilinx.
First, we were joined by Eric Sindelar, GM of advanced products at Supermicro, who announced two new Alveo-validated systems – the Supermicro DP Ultra and the Supermicro UP 1U. Both systems are available now worldwide. Supermicro as a company is very much focused on high performance, high-efficiency computing solutions. The collaboration with Xilinx is focused on building compute platforms to solve a huge increase in some of the most algorithmically demanding and hardest to scale workload challenges in the enterprise and data center.
We then welcomed Francisco Webber, CEO of Cortical.io who announced a new e-mail classification appliance designed to handle natural language processing. The yet-to-be-named device, built using Supermicro servers and Alveo accelerator cards, enables the real-time filtering and classification of incoming and outgoing e-mails, as well as triggering configurable actions based. The appliance will be available for purchase in the first quarter of next year.
Last but not least, Manoj Nayee, CEO of Boston Ltd., hit the stage to talk about the exciting work they are doing with Supermicro servers and Alveo accelerators, along with V-Nova.

Manoj announced the launch of its latest product – an ultra-high density video streaming solution – The Boston Stream+.
The Boston Stream+ enables use cases such as live 4K P60 encoding at bitrates previously unheard of. It utilizes unique video encoding technology from V-Nova which simultaneously reduces processing time and reduces the bandwidth needed to stream and encode at very high quality. This technology is so compelling it has become the basis of the new MPEG LCEVC standard. One of the most exciting aspects of this new technology and standard is that it offers all these benefits to all codec standards (AVC/H.264, HEVC, VP9, and – in the future – AV1.)
