Summer Update 1 release time – Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the best games of the year, and it’s about to get better with the Summer Update #1. The first of two updates planned for the summer, Wave 1 will bring swimming, the new wet suit, and a new character to the game. Curious to know what the Summer Update Wave 1 release time is? Here’s what we know.

Summer Update Wave 1 release time – Animal Crossing: New Horizons

While Nintendo hasn’t given us a specific release time for Summer Update Wave 1, we can speculate that it will arrive around midnight on July 3, when the update is meant to become available. Most of the updates for the game have become available around midnight most times, though we could also see it arrive at 5 a.m. on July 3, as that is when the days actually reset in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Unfortunately, we can’t really say the exact release time for the first summer update, as there isn’t one just yet. This could change over the next couple of days, as we lead up to the actual update’s release. Thankfully, we do have past updates to work around, which definitely leads us to believe that most users should expect the update to become available around midnight on release day. The most recent update – the wedding anniversary event – hit around the midnight mark, and previous events like the Easter event have become available around that time as well.

Of course, you’re going to need to make sure you are connected to the internet and have “use internet to set date and time” activated to install and activate the update.

We’ll continue to keep our eyes and ears open for any additional news, and we’ll update this article as we go. The Invisible Hours Brings Its VR Murder Mystery Drama To Quest ‘Soon’

While things might seem to go slowly on the new release front for Oculus Quest a lot of the time, that hasn’t been the case lately. There’s a slew of big titles dropping very soon and now we can add murder mystery drama The Invisible Hours from Tequila Works to that list.

The game’s developer, Tequila Works, announced it’s “coming soon” to Oculus Quest over on Twitter:

The premise in The Invisible Hours is essentially like one giant murder mystery party is playing out before you and as an outside observer you have to piece together the pieces to solve the murder of one Nikola Tesla.

Rather than actually “doing” a lot in The Invisible Hours, you spend most of your time observing and searching for clues while you browse environments and listen to conversations. The characters, world building, and performances are the cornerstones here — and being able to explore more freely on the wireless Oculus Quest will be a great boon to immersion.

In his original review from 2017, Jamie from UploadVR wrote the following before awarding it a 9 out of 10 on our previous review scale:

“The Invisible Hours is unlike anything else you’ll play or watch in VR this year; a genuinely enthralling murder mystery boldly told in an entirely new way. Its character-driven drama is near faultless not just in the dialogue and plotting but also in the superb staging and pacing that brings the world to life. It’s an experiment that pays off in spades and could well provide a template for VR storytelling to come.”

That’s pretty high praise.

Minecraft Gear VR Support To End In October, No More Multiplayer & Realms

It’s nearly the end of the road for the Gear VR version of Minecraft; support for that version of Mojang’s enduring hit will end in October.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, as of October there will be no new updates for Minecraft Gear VR, and multiplayer and Realms support will be taken away too. You’ll still be able to play the game in single-player, but Minecraft with no online mode is a bit of a sad thought, isn’t it?

Support is also ending for Windows 10 Mobile, Android devices with less than 768MB of RAM, iOS devices running iOS 10 or below, or video cards that only support DirectX 10.1 or below. Make sure you’re updating where necessary if you want to keep playing.

Minecraft is still available on Oculus Rift and it doesn’t sound like support is ending there. Gear VR itself is basically dead at this point; Samsung itself has stopped updating its software, Facebook dropped Oculus SDK support for the device and the latest Samsung phones don’t support the headset, so it’s not too surprising to see this news. Minecraft never came to Oculus Go but, even if it had, that platform’s going the way of the dodo soon too.

Many of our hopes for Minecraft VR’s future rest on Oculus Quest, then. Back in June, Facebook’s John Carmack revealed he had the game up and running on the standalone headset, but could never get his company and Mojang owner Microsoft to collaborate on release. Minecraft VR support has always been a pet project for the legendary developer. Look, here he is wearing a Gear VR and playing the game at an Xbox E3 conference a few years back.

Online support for a port is gaining ground, though; even the Oculus Gaming Twitter account is encouraging fans to let Mojang know they want it. Fans are upvoting the idea on the official Minecraft site, too.

Still, even if it never comes to Quest, we’ll always have Minecraft Earth, right? Right?

Hearthstone 17.6 update nerfs Galakrond Rogue and Demon Hunter

A fresh round of balance changes will hit Hearthstone with next week’s 17.6 update and it will likely make Galakrond Rogue and aggro Demon Hunter players cry just a bit.

It’s a harsh lesson to learn over and over again, but nothing in life is free. And for Hearthstone players getting powerful cards for free, their day is coming. Blizzard is closing some of its charity avenues with next week’s 17.6 update, impacting Galakrond Rogue decks heavily. And those who thought the Demon Hunter nerfs were finished, I’m afraid I have some bad news.

The following balance changes will be implemented on Tuesday, July 14, according to the Hearthstone website:

  • Dragonqueen Alexstrasza (Neutral): Now reads “Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, add 2 other random Dragons to your hand. They cost (1).” (Changed from “Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, add 2 other random Dragons to your hand. They cost (0).”)
  • Corsair Cache (Warrior): Draws a weapon and gives it +1 Durability. (Changed from drawing a weapon and giving it +1/+1)
  • Metamorphosis (Demon Hunter): Swap your Hero Power to “Deal 4 damage.” After 2 uses, swap it back. (Down from dealing 5 damage.)
  • Kayn Sunfury (Demon Hunter): Now has 3/4 stats (Down from 3/5 stats)
  • Warglaives of Azzinoth (Demon Hunter): Costs 6 mana (Up from 5 mana)
  • Dragoncaster (Mage): Costs 7 mana (Up from 6 mana)
  • Fungal Fortunes (Druid): Costs 3 mana (Up from 2 mana)
  • Galakrond, the Nightmare/Galakrond, the Apocalypse/Galakrond, Azeroth’s End (Rogue): Any cards drawn now cost 1 mana. (Up from 0 mana.)

Galakrond Rogue decks used to cruise by with all sorts of free cards. The Highlander build would run with Dragonqueen Alexstrasza and get free dragons. And Galakrond himself would grant the Rogue multiple free cards. Those cards are no longer free and will now cost (1) mana, which should disrupt those decks significantly. It should be noted that Rogue players can still pull some free cards with the aid of Heistbaron Togwaggle, so all is not lost for them.

Demon Hunters have only been around for a few months, but they’ve been the target of nerfs not once, but twice. And the first round of nerfs literally came the day after the class was released. This round of nerfs is focused on the Warglaives of Azzinoth, which have become a powerful weapon in the late game, working in conjunction with many of the Demon Hunter’s cheap spells. While Kayn Sunfury‘s effect makes it one of the better Demon Hunter minions in the game, its health also made it a strong tempo play on Turn 4, so its health reduction fixes the latter point. And then there’s Metamorphosis, which has become a reliable finishing play for the Demon Hunter. This pulls its punch back slightly, giving the opposing player more of a fighting chance.

These changes won’t kick in until this Tuesday, so get these last games in while you can. The Galakrond Rogue and aggro Demon Hunter decks (as well as the Highlander Mage and Spell Druid decks) are getting hit hard with these balance changes.
