Strictly Limited Games to Release Last Labyrinth Physical PlayStation VR Edition

Date:

When it comes to collecting physical copies of virtual reality (VR) videogames the only platform you can do that on is PlayStation VR. Quite a few have managed to make the leap into retail locations and later this year escape room adventure Last Labyrinth will be making its hard copy debut.

Last Labyrinth

The physical release is thanks to Strictly Limited Games who plan on releasing two versions, a Collector’s and Limited Edition. No details have yet been released as to what either will contain or their price points; pre-order’s are said to begin later this year though.

Last Labyrinth is a quirky VR puzzle experience from Japanese team Amata K.K, where you don’t interact with any of the challenges directly. You’re bound to a wheelchair – so there’s no locomotion issues to worry about – and you solve each puzzle by way of guiding a girl called Katia.

Katia speaks no discernible language so all her actions are controlled by activating a head-mounted laser, telling her where to go and what to press. You can nod and shake your head but that’s about it. But you are both seemingly stuck in a mansion littered with puzzle rooms and each of them booby-trapped in gruesome ways. Fail one and it’s death for both of you, returning back to the start.

Last Labyrinth had plenty of videogame veterans making the title, with some of the developers previously working on classic titles such as ICO, The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus, whilst Katia is voiced by Stefanie Joosten who previously played wordless sniper “Quiet” in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. “It’s a huge honour to be part of Last Labyrinth. When I first played the demo, I immediately felt completely sucked into its mysterious world,” says Joosten in a statement. “It lets you experience VR in a way I have never seen before. I think it will be a completely new experience to players worldwide.”

The videogame saw a multiplatform launch last year supporting Oculus Rift/ Rift S, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality and PlayStation VR. For further updates on the new physical editions keep reading VRFocus.
