Space Explorers Episode One Streaming For Free Until May 10 On Quest And Rift

Published

on

The first episode of the immersive VR series Space Explorers will be available for free in Oculus TV and Oculus Venues until May 10 to celebrate National Space Day.

Space Explorers: The ISS Experience is available as a Quest and Rift app spread across four episodes, the first two of which are available now. However, to celebrate National Space Day on May 7, the first episode, Adapt, will be available to stream for free  until May 10.

It is now available on a 24-hour loop in Oculus Venues or on demand in Oculus TV until Monday. If you watch episode one and want more, you can download the Space Explorers app and purchase episode two. Episodes three and four aren’t available just yet, but are scheduled to release Fall 2021 and Winter 2021 respectively.

Here’s a synopsis of the first episode:

Episode One, “Adapt” documents the arrival of a new crew of astronauts aboard the International Space Station as they discover the joy, wonder and danger of living in space. Years of training come into play as the crew overcomes disorientation from microgravity, responds to potentially catastrophic emergencies, and learns to operate as a close-knit team. The extreme nature of this unique shared experience brings them to form family-like bonds.

Space Explorers is a Felix & Paul Studios and Time Studios production, and was filmed entirely in space using Felix & Paul Studios’ specialized 3D, 360-degree space camera. It is the largest production ever filmed in space.

The first episode goes for approximately 24 minutes and is available now on loop in Oculus Venues and on demand on Oculus TV for Quest and Rift.

A-Muse Yourself Today With Synth Rider’s Latest Music Pack

Published

on

To attract and then keep players developers of rhythm action videogames know they need a continual succession of tracks, aided further if these come from big, international artists. Beat Saber recently welcomed Skrillex onto its roster whilst Synth Riders welcome back alt-rockers Muse with a new music pack for Oculus Quest and Steam players.

Synth Riders

Muse first graced Synth Riders at the beginning of 2021, returning today with five more rocking tracks celebrating the band’s career. The songs are Starlight, Uprising, Madness, Reapers, and Pressure. Just like the first pack, this one will also feature a special Synth Riders Visual Experience, tailored for Muse’s big hit Starlight. Rather than the usual progression through a flat level, the experience is far more dynamic, with artistically driven visuals inspired by the music.

“It’s incredibly inspiring to be able to work with Muse again. They are a perfect fit for Synth Riders because of their sound – when you ride the rails to match the vocals, the combination is electrifying and emotional. For the Experience, our creative interpretation of the song’s lyrics gave us the freedom to explore a whole galaxy of particles, abstract images, and even a black hole,” says Abraham Aguero – Creative Director Kluge Interactive in a statement.

The music pack for Oculus Quest (cross-buy with Rift), Steam and Viveport can be purchased as a bundle for $7.99 USD with a 20% discount. Or you can buy the songs individually for $1.99.

Synth Riders

So what about PlayStation VR? After a bit of a delay, Synth Riders launched last month and it won’t miss out on the music pack; the release is scheduled for a couple of weeks time, on 29th September. There’s also some more news regarding a physical edition of Synth Riders. Developer Kluge Interactive has teamed up with Perp Games to publish a special retail version that’ll include Muse’s music pack on 12th November 2021.

As Kluge Interactive continue to support Synth Riders VRFocus will report back with the latest updates.

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife Tiptoes Onto PlayStation VR in October

Published

on

There haven’t been as many virtual reality (VR) horror titles appearing in 2021 as in previous years with one of the most notable exceptions being Fast Travel Games’ Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife. Originally released for Oculus before coming to Steam, soon it’ll be the turn of PlayStation VR players to wander the haunted hallways of Barclay Mansion.

Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife

Rather than wall-to-wall scares, this haunted mansion experience provides a much slower, atmospheric adventure, all set within the World of Darkness universe. You play as Ed Miller, a photographer who dies during a seance at the luxurious home of one Howard Barclay, a Hollywood movie producer. As you might have guessed, your death doesn’t see you move happily along into the afterlife, instead, you’re stuck between there and the living world.

So you need to figure out what went wrong and what happened to your girlfriend who joined you at the gathering. But you’re not alone on this little escapade as you’ll be joined by Shadow, a manifestation of Miller’s dark subconscious. While this being can be helpful at times it isn’t exactly on your side, relishing in your struggle, and occasionally complicating things as well.

However, Shadow isn’t a real threat but the Spectres are. These are damned creatures that wander sections of the mansion, actively hunting you. They’ll come running if you make a sound or you happen to get in their line of sight and there’s no fighting them off; there are no weapons in Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife. So you have to be sneaky and utilise hiding spots to avoid them or create distractions.

Wraith: The Oblivion - Afterlife

Reviewing the Oculus Quest version of Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife VRFocus found that: “For those that love slow and tense survival horror Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife certainly delivers. Coming in at around eight hours of nail-biting content, Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife does the World of Darkness proud.”

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife is scheduled to arrive on 7th October 2021 for PlayStation VR, with a recommended retail price of $29.99 USD/£24.99 GBP/€24.99 EUR. Check out the new trailer below and for further updates from Fast Travel Games, keep reading VRFocus.
