Some players unable to claim Pokémon UNITE mobile pre-registration rewards due to new error

Published

on

With the release of Pokémon UNITE on mobile, players who download the game are set to receive a nice collection of bonus goodies thanks to the preregistration campaign that TiMi Studio and The Pokémon Company ran for the game.

These rewards are only available to players who download the game on mobile, though anyone who has played on the Nintendo Switch can easily link their accounts and grab the rewards without playing a single match on mobile. However, there is an error keeping some players from redeeming the pre-registration rewards at all.

According to the official Pokémon UNITE Twitter account, when loading up the Events tab from the main menu and navigating to the “Preregistration Campaign,” some players will not have the ability to claim the rewards.

This does not mean you are not eligible to claim them, rather, it is a known error that the developers are actively working to fix.

Once this issue is fixed, players who were previously unable to claim the rewards should have access to the following bonuses because UNITE cracked 7.5 million preregistrations:

  • 1,000 Aeos Tickets
  • Unite License: Pikachu
  • Festival Style: Pikachu Holowear
  • 1,000 Aeos Tickets

TiMi Studio has promised to keep players informed on the status of this issue, but don’t be surprised if you login and can’t claim your rewards just yet.

Fredy122 talks Rogue’s strength in the LEC’s best-of-one format

Published

on

With their second and first-place finishes in the 2021 LEC Spring and Summer Splits, Rogue seemed to be barreling down a path towards surefire success at the 2021 League of Legends World Championship before the tournament began. But regular-season success doesn’t always translate into tougher matches.

Rogue took full advantage of the best-of-one format that rules the LEC regular season, ultimately setting themselves up to fail in playoffs. They were unable to exploit their strengths in best-of-ones of out-drafting weaker teams and utilizing picks their opponents aren’t comfortable on, and failed to adapt from game to game. This led to an eventual early elimination at the 2021 World Championship where they faced tougher opponents and couldn’t rely on the go-tos they showed in Europe. In an interview with Dot Esports, Rogue’s head coach fredy122 described what makes best-of-ones such a benefit for the team and why they can’t take that level of play into more difficult games.

Only 6 players hold on to perfect pick’ems halfway through the League 2021 Worlds quarterfinals

Published

on

The League of Legends 2021 World Championship is quickly coming to a close. Since the start of the event, we’ve had to say painful goodbyes to former world champions, yet also welcome new competitors into the later stages of the tournament. This has dealt a major blow to the pick’ems of millions of players.

Out of the 6,011,257 players that participated in this year’s pick’ems to the order of how teams advance through Worlds, only six remain perfect at the halfway point of the quarterfinals. These players successfully predicted upsets such as FunPlus Phoenix’s elimination in the Worlds group stage and EDG’s victory against RNG today, which marked the team as the sole remaining LPL contender for the world championship.

Just one week ago, a few thousand players remained in the Baron Nashor tier of this year’s pick’ems, though many were thwarted by the first four-way tie in group stage history, which enabled MAD Lions and Gen.G to advance to the quarterfinals. Since then, many of these players have fallen into the Elder Dragon tier, which contains 47 players, and Blue Sentinel tier, with around 6,200 players. The players in the Baron Nashor tier will now have to hope that their pick’ems remain intact after MAD battles DWG KIA tomorrow and Gen.G and Cloud9 finish the quarterfinals on Monday.

Should any player retain perfect pick’ems through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the 2021 World Championship, they will be rewarded with every Ultimate skin currently available in the game, consisting of skins for Lux, Ezreal, Udyr, Miss Fortune, Seraphine, and Sona. Players that do not maintain perfect pick’ems will receive exclusive icons based on the points they have accumulated throughout the entirety of Worlds. The rewards will appear in their inventories once the event concludes on Nov. 6.

Cloud9, NRG dominate NA ALGS day 3

Published

on

After week one of the ALGS North America Pro League, several big-name teams were looking to come back from a disappointing first week. In the second week of play, two of those teams delivered.

NRG began the day in a big way, playing outside of The Dome and picking up kill after kill with the zone at their backs, with teams forced to rotate either around or straight into them. Charlotte Phoenix ultimately picked up the first win, but NRG ended the first match in the overall lead on the day after placing second with 11 kills. It was the perfect way for NRG to start given their struggles in week one. They only had one point entering week two of Pro League, but the team bounced back nicely to take control of the lobby from the first game.

Cloud9 flexed their muscles in the second game of the day, finally securing their first game victory of North America’s Pro League. And they did it in typical fashion for them, running and gunning as their trio of Zach Mazer, Paris “StayNaughty” Gouzoulis, and TSM creator Mac “Albralelie” Beckwith put together a nine-kill victory.

Perhaps even more impressive was NRG’s continued streak of form, turning a situation where, down a man and swarmed with enemies all around him, IGL Chris “sweetdreams” Sexton somehow secured extra kills for the team and came out of the game with another second-place finish, staying atop the overall leaderboard.

NRG continued their magical run by notching their first win of the day in game three, and C9 were right behind them. With the zone pulling up to the northeast of World’s Edge, C9 took advantage of a final circle very close to their Climatizer landing spot. They found countless high-ground positions, securing kills and third parties along the way. With the field whittled down to three full teams in the final circle, it appeared that C9 would take their second game in a row, with the high ground yet again.

NRG had different plans.

When C9 tried to peek over the fighting NRG and BenchWarmers squads, Sweet turned and knocked both StayNaughty and Zach from the low ground, while RamBeau flanked Albralelie and finished off the team with the best spot in the game. Playing behind his teammate’s knockdown shields, Sweet pulled off the one-vs-one against RamBeau. In most situations, 55 points from three games would be an utterly dominant position for NRG in first place. C9’s high-kill games, however, kept them in touch with the NRG boys, with the rest of the lobby trailing further behind the two frontrunners.

C9 would prove that no point total is safe in the very next game. NRG grabbed 10 kills in a game that ended in Geyser on the very eastern edge of the map, but were bounced in sixth place. C9 took full advantage, grabbing the winning position and this time, taking the victory again with eight kills of their own, cutting NRG’s lead to just three points. With two games left, the rest of the lobby was chasing TSM with third, who were already an incredible 26 points behind C9 in second.

C9 would make that gap even larger in game five, securing the lead with a second-place finish and 15 kills, finally overtaking NRG and jumping out to a 16-point lead overall on the day. It was one of those games where it just seemed like C9 kept running, kept finding third parties, and kept getting kills, right up until the end. They even had time for a few extra-curricular activities along the way.

Free agent team Unlucky picked up the win in game five, but all eyes were on the top two names on the table.

Despite NRG trying to push for another miracle in the final game of the day, they ultimately couldn’t climb the final mountain. It was Renegades who finished off the day with a giant 15-kill victory, leapfrogging TSM and taking the third-place finish overall.

For C9, the victory was a realization of the potential the team has always had but has also failed to show so often since adding Albralelie to the roster. For NRG, the game was a vital bounce-back from a slow start in week one. Both teams firmly re-established themselves as teams to beat in North America in week two of the Pro League, considering they left all others in their wake. And both teams have also placed themselves in prime position to qualify for the first split playoffs. There are, however, still plenty more match days to come, and plenty more opportunities for teams behind them to gain. They’ve earned their place at the top of NA this week. Next week, they’ll have to keep it.

Los Angeles Gladiators signs ANS

Published

on

Former San Francisco Shock hitscan Lee “ANS” Seon-chang is going to play the next season of the Overwatch League in purple. The expert hitscan signed with the Los Angeles Gladiators today, marking another pickup for the team in the offseason.

ANS was a core part of the San Francisco Shock’s 2020 championship campaign, and his prowess on heroes such as Widowmaker and Ashe made him one of the deadliest players in the league. The Shock, however, dropped seven of its players in a drastic offseason move—including its DPS lineup in ANS, Sean “ta1yo” Henderson, Charlie “nero” Zwarg, and Lim “Glister” Gil-seong.

The Los Angeles Gladiators snagged the hitscan expert as part of its own roster experiments. During the offseason, the Gladiators dropped head coach David “dpei” Pei, flex DPS Chris “MirroR” Trinh, and main tank Kim “MuZe” Young-han. Two other members of the Gladiators also swapped colors this offseason. The Gladiators dropped support Grant “moth” Espe, and Overwatch legend Kim “birdring” Ji-hyeok retired from the team earlier this month.

ANS isn’t the only confirmed presence on the Gladiators next season. The team signed the Philadelphia Fusion’s Daniel “FunnyAstro” Hathaway earlier this month and opted to maintain Kim “Shu” Jin-seo, Kim “Skewed” Min-seok, and DPS Kevin “Kevster” Persson for the next season.

Meanwhile, the Shock’s drastic moves left only main tank Matthew “Super” DeLisi and flex support Park “Viol2t” Min-ki signed to the team for the time being after off-tank Choi “ChoiHyoBin” Hyo-bin’s retirement earlier this month.

Fans can catch ANS in action when the next season of the Overwatch League returns in April. The competition’s fifth season will be played in an early build of Overwatch 2.
