Singapore Amends Travel Guidelines, VTL Passengers Get Relaxations

Singapore Airlines said that the country’s entry and COVID-19 testing criteria for Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) passengers had been relaxed, and its flight operations will begin from February 22. The passengers on VTL flights originating from India and arriving in Singapore must continue to provide a negative PCR or professionally performed ART test within two days of departure.

According to Singapore Airlines (SIA), the travel history requirement of fully-vaccinated travellers flying to Singapore on VTL flights from Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi starting from today has been reduced from 14 to 7 days, according to Singapore Airlines (SIA).

“From February 22, fully vaccinated passengers travelling to Singapore on VTL flights from Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai can adhere to the new relaxations. Travel history requirements will be reduced from 14 to 7 days. If the traveller has been in Singapore within those last seven days, their stay in Singapore can be counted towards fulfilling this 7-day travel history requirement,” SIA said in a statement.

Short-Term Passengers Must Take VTP

The long-term pass holders will no longer need to apply for a vaccinated travel pass (VTP) to fly to Singapore on a VTL aircraft. However, short-term tourists and work permit holders must still have a VTP.

“From February 22, VTL travellers need not take an on-arrival Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test at Changi Airport. Instead, they will be required to take a supervised self-swab Antigen Rapid Test (ART) at any test centre located across Singapore within 24 hours of arrival,” the airline announced.

Travellers will receive a testing notice with a web link to book tests when they arrive in Singapore. If the aforesaid ART appears to be negative, no additional ART/PCR tests will be necessary throughout your stay in Singapore.

The amendments to Singapore’s VTL entry and testing requirements come after the government announced last month that VTL travellers who had recently recovered from COVID-19 (within seven to 90 days of their previous infection before departure to Singapore) could provide appropriate documentary proof of their recovery would be exempt from all testing requirements.

Singapore Airlines currently provides 52 flights to Singapore from eight Indian cities, including daily VTL services from Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai.
