Sentinels have signed former FaZe Clan player Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty as their head coach ahead of the Valorant Champions in December.

For Rawkus, this will mark his first coaching position in esports. The star cut his teeth as an Overwatch League pro for the Houston Outlaws. After three seasons with the team, and after winning gold at the 2019 Overwatch World Cup for the U.S, Rawkus made the move over to Valorant where he joined FaZe Clan.

The switch from Overwatch to Valorant was a move made by many of Rawkus’ peers with many also making their way over to FaZe Clan, such as Andrej “babybay” Francisty and Zachary “ZachaREEE” Lombardo.

Sentinels have had previous success without a coach, winning the Iceland Major earlier this year and cementing themselves as one of the best NA teams around. Recently, the team tweeted out that they were looking for a coach several days before announcing Rawkus’ signing. Now, with a head coach joining the team, Sentinels can hopefully look to implement some strategic plays that will help them stay on top.

With less than a month to go before the Valorant Champions 2021 kicks off in Berlin, Rawkus only has a short while to gt the team prepped for their run.
