Scavengers is a beautiful game with a vast landscape filled that fills the map with detailed environments, enemies and even other players. Its game play is built on strategizing ways to navigate through the multitude of threats that a player can encounter in order to win.

However, with a lot of things to interact with in the game, it comes at the cost of performance, especially frame rates.

Here are some fixes to help alleviate frame rate drops in Midwinter Entertainment’s newest game, Scavengers.

First, there must be some discipline in the player in order fully run the game the way the creators intended. The easiest way is to ensure that your PC is optimized to play on Windows even before the game is launched.

Sometimes programs can hinder performance, especially if they’re on in the background. Close all unnecessary programs and applications so you know that nothing holds your frames back on your PC.

Go through the basic steps of making sure your GPU is primed for performance even though it may not be as massive in size as games like Call of Duty. Even on the more advanced GPUs in the market, some players are still reporting problems running the game on max settings with frame loss.

If your hardware does have an older GPU, you may want to consider playing with the DX11 option, whereas newer chips, like the GeForce RTX 30 series, should be with the DX12 option. However, DX12 can cause on frame instability.

In-Game Settings

As you play, you should tweak the graphic settings as you see fit. However, if you are having frame drops, you definitely have to consider compromising the lack of quality put in your settings in order to boost performance in game. Here are some of the important settings to help get your frames back.

The game tends to drop frames when playing in borderless or windowed modes, so be sure to keep the game at fullscreen. It is the biggest compromise for those who have multiple screens and like to multitask unfortunately.

This is exclusive for RTX chips, but keeping the DLSS setting to “Quality” will help preserve some frames. Even the balanced option can cause frame drops for the more advanced RTX chips. Without DLSS on, it will drop your frames, so double check to see if you have it set.

This is where you will have to tweak to your liking, and where most will have to find compromises between quality and performance. One setting to tweak is “View Distance,” “Effects” and “Foliage” as there may be too many detailed things on the screen at once, and in order to maximize frame rates, you will need to find a sweet spot across those settings.

Don’t drop frames, instead, win games.
