Air Canada continues to rebuild international route network

Дата:

Air Canada has unveiled details regarding the return of some of the carrier’s most important international routes as the 2021 summer travel season gets underway. The Canadian airline has state that it plans to resume a total of 17 routes to 11 destinations around the world.

From the beginning of August, Air Canada will resume services between Calgary and Frankfurt, operating up to four times weekly. In addition to Calgary, Air Canada has also stated that it expects to resume services to Geneva, Tel Aviv, and London from its hub in Montreal. While the latter two routes are scheduled to begin in August, its service to Geneva is set to resume from July 22nd, operating three times weekly.

Additionally, the airline will begin offering “a unique non-stop service” from Montreal to Cairo, Egypt, which is scheduled to operate on a three times weekly basis. The Canadian carrier hopes that this new route will provide a gateway to North Africa and offer “convenient connectivity” through Air Canada’s network of routes and other airline partnerships.

Air Canada also plans to resume some services from Toronto to European cities such as Vienna, Dublin, Paris, and Zurich, with its Vienna service beginning on July 21st. The last time Air Canada operated a commercial flight from Toronto (YYZ) to Dublin (DUB) was actually back in February. Since then, the flag carrier has not returned to the capital of Ireland but has stated that it will return from August 1st.

In a company statement, the Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management, Mark Galardo said “As travel restrictions ease across the globe, we are committed to rebuild our international network and continue as a global carrier to connect Canada to the world, while also developing additional markets and targeting new opportunities. Canadians are eager to travel again, and we are ready to reunite customers with their families and friends.”

From as early as July 21st, Air Canada is set to resume a total of eight international routes across its main hubs in Montreal, Toronto, and Calgary. The airline has already resumed flights to Greece, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, as well as Morocco, and will be increasing the frequency of flights weekly to some of these destinations in August.

Air Canada continues to operate to several other destinations across its network including Brussels, Bogotá, Doha, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo. Some of the current routes operated by the airline include connecting the Canadian city of Toronto to Athens, Dubai, Rome, and Lisbon.

In terms of Montreal Air Canada continues to operate flights to Athens, Casablanca, Rome, and Lisbon. However, in the case of Vancouver, the Canadian flag carrier only operates one international route from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and that is to London Heathrow, which will become a daily flight from August.
