RNG beat JD Gaming, extend win streak to 6 series in 2021 LPL Summer Split

Published

on

Royal Never Give Up picked up a 2-1 win over JD Gaming in an intensive series in the seventh week of the 2021 LPL Summer Split, extending their win streak to 6 series after a weak start of the split.

The MVP votes for today’s series went to the mid-laner Cryin and support Ming. Cryin picked up his MVP vote after a strong performance on Galio, assisting his allies whenever his ultimate was up and providing a good amount of damage in teamfights. He fit really well into RNG’s offensive composition with carries in other roles. The support player picked up his MVP vote after an outstanding performance on Sett, a long-forgotten pick after multiple nerfs. He used it to deny crucial engages from his opponents while also using his ultimate to throw back the opposing Ornn into his team for a lot of damage.

The first match of the series opened up with a lot of skirmishes across the entire map from both teams. While JDG was trading blows evenly with RNG at the start, they quickly started falling behind once their opponents’ carries started getting fed. JDG attempted to slow down the pace of the match, but with RNG having a huge gold lead, they couldn’t do it since they kept getting pressured on the entire map, before losing the match.

Going into the second game, JDG adjusted their draft banned either banned or picked priority picks from RNG and played safer early on. They focused on getting their core items before forcing fights and while RNG had the upper edge early on, they quickly got outscaled by their opponents, who easily equalized the series. In the last match, RNG forced early skirmishes once again and built a decent gold lead over their opponents. With an item advantage, they kept the pressure against their opponents, before finishing the match and series after an explosive teamfight.

RNG (7-5) climbed to seventh place with this victory, increasing their chances of making the playoffs. With weaker opponents during their next matches, they should easily be able to improve their standings and go into playoffs head-high. Their next matchup is Rare Atom next week, a team that has consistently climbed to the top throughout the split. However after showing a lot of weaknesses in their recent series, RNG should be able to take down easily.

Discord tests YouTube integration with new feature

Published

on

Discord has rolled out a new feature called Watch Together to select servers today.

Through a partnership with YouTube, Watch Together allows Discord users in a call or voice channel to enjoy YouTube-hosted videos together. This feature also allows for a shared music listening experience if users queue up YouTube music videos. Participants can even create playlists with the new feature. The main downside to this feature is that users will have to watch and hear ads during the video playback.

This news comes after YouTube forced the popular Groovy Discord music bot offline at the end of August. A few weeks later, YouTube forced Rhythm bot offline as well, which had been used on more than 20 million Discord servers.

The Groovy and Rhythm Discord bots were immensely popular for their ability to easily play the audio of any YouTube video into any Discord voice channel. This allowed users to listen to any music they wanted while circumventing YouTube’s website and Spotify Premium’s Discord integration.

Google, YouTube’s parent company, explained to The Verge in August that the Groovy and Rhythm bots were in violation of YouTube’s Terms of Service because they were repurposing YouTube content for their own commercial gain. For this reason, Google issued cease and desists to the owners of both Discord music bots.

Discord plans to roll out the Watch Together feature for all servers by the end of next month. Right now, the feature is only available to Discord friends and family servers and the Discord-run Game Labs server.

How to Host a Private CS:GO Match

Published

CSGO

With Tuesday’s release of Operation Riptide, Valve finally enabled CS:GO players to host a private match on Valve’s own servers. While the process may seem daunting it’s quite straightforward and virtually anybody can do it. Here’s how to host a CS:GO match using the new private queue system:

Valve’s brief description of the new CS:GO Private Queue reads “With a player-generated Queue Code, a group of friends can match amongst themselves into a Premier match on Valve servers.”

This Queue Code refers to a code assigned to every Steam Group which allows group members to host private matches on Valve’s servers. In order to get this Queue Code players need to be part of a Steam Group or create a new.

The process for creating a Steam Group is pretty simple and can be done almost instantaneously. Once players and their friends have a Steam Group they can create a Private Queue match.

Valve made the process for creating a private match extremely simple. After clicking the “Play CS:GO” button in the game’s main menu they will be able to select a variety of different game modes including “Private Queue” located under the “Competitive” tab.

Like most private matches, players can make their game joinable to friends or turned on invite-only mode. To enable the invite only mode players merely need to deselect the “Open Party” option. Players can copy the game code to send out to their friends, join via a Steam Group, or join using a code from another player.

Valve’s new private match feature, Private Queue, is easy-to-use and secure, exactly what the player base hoped for from the new mode.

NBA 2K22 Best Controller Settings: Current Gen and Next Gen

Here are the best Controller Settings to use in NBA 2K22 on both Current Gen and Next Gen.

In NBA 2K22, using your optimal controller settings may make you realize that the game plays for you a lot more than desired by default.

As seen in past 2K titles, changing up the Defensive Assist Strength and well as Pass Target settings may help much more than you would have previously thought. For those looking to clamp up and make accurate passes more consistently, here are the best controller settings to use in NBA 2K22 on Current Gen and Next Gen.

As alluded to earlier, there are mainly three things that you want to make sure are to your liking in the Controller Settings menu.

First off, with the Shot Meter, this is ultimately up to what you’re comfortable with, especially with moving shots being much more effective this year. However, as seen commonly at the higher levels of competition, turning off the Shot Meter is eventually the way to go for the extra shooting boost it grants.

Next, the Defensive Assist Strength is something to be aware off as this adjusts how much the game controls your player when guarding on-ball. For those who find that they’re often too slow to check speedier guards, this may be because your Defensive Assist Strength setting is too high. I prefer to have this setting on the lower end, around 15-35 to ensure that I am in predominantly in control of each step my player takes.

The third major Controller Setting to adjust is your Pass Target Profile, which affects how the game assumes which player you want to get the ball to when passing with the X/A button and the left stick. I set my Pass Target Direction to 69, the Distance to 30 and the Openness to 1. While some might prefer to have their Openness set as high as 90, it might not be the best idea to rely on that as more experienced defenders might be leaving their guys open briefly to bait the pass.

One last thing to take note of is that for those looking to use the Pro Touch Finishing Badge, you do need your Shot Timing to be set to “Shots and Layups” or “Layups only” in order for it to activate.
