Sturm is one of the later bosses in the Resident Evil Village—an unfortunate experiment brought forth at the hands of Heisenberg, himself.

Players encounter Sturm after picking up Heisenberg’s Key. This will give them access to the Cargo Bay, where Sturm will be awaiting their arrival. If they’re careful, players can actually get a good look at Sturm before the fight begins. Sturm won’t become hostile until Ethan is fully in the Cargo Bay area.

While this battle might seem tricky at first, we’ve put together a few quick tips to help get through it.

The three key features of Sturm are as follows: his propeller face, his feet, and the reactor on his back.

The propeller on his face is the primary “weapon” he has. It does a significant amount of damage, so players should avoid it at all costs. Fortunately, this is pretty easily done by watching his feet. Sturm’s primary attack is a charge that cannot change direction once started—a direction indicated by where his feet are facing. Players can deal the most damage to him by shooting the reactor area on his back.

This combat comes in two parts.

Due to the nature of Sturm’s attack pattern, we recommend stepping into the shoes of a Spanish matador. Players should position Ethan facing Strum, with his back flush against a wall or other structure. Once Sturm charges, simply move out of the way and the monster should get stuck in whatever was behind Ethan. While stuck, his back is completely exposed, allowing for a good amount of damage to be done in a short amount of time.

Once enough damage is done, the second part of the battle begins. How will players know? Well, let’s just say it’ll get a little heated in the Cargo Bay.

Literally.

Sturm catches fire.

Sturm won’t get stuck to surfaces as easily in this stage—but don’t worry, it’s only temporary. The best strategy here is to just let him burn himself out. Take cover as he hurls flames at Ethan and be sure to get out of the way if he performs a charge. Eventually, he’ll return to his typical self, and the process begins again.

Repeat this strategy until he’s down.
