Relax and Unwind at a Legal Cannabis Cafe

Date:

In October last year, 2019, the U.S. opened its very first restaurant that allows open consumption of cannabis. Located in California, its doors welcomed visitors nearly two years after the state legalized marijuana for recreational use. The restaurant, named “Lowell Farms: A Cannabis Café,” offers farm-to-table cuisine in trendy West Hollywood, alongside potent edibles, bongs, vapes, even pre-rolled joints.

“We are excited,” its general manager Kevin Brady said, “To be that flagship, that benchmark, to show people that a cannabis business is not something that is scary.” Of the venture, funded generously by Lowell Herb Co., a cannabis farm, and supported by famous faces, such as actor Chris Rock, star Miley Cyrus, and comedian Sarah Silverman, he added, “It is something that has not been legal for 120 years.”

Finest in Unique Dining

Today, you can have any meal you want, almost, infused by a cannachef and sent via marijuana delivery. You can search “weed delivery near me” to see for yourself. However, eating out has always been a popular social event for friends and family, some of whom prefer to toke than drink. While the food at Lowell Café contains no weed, advice is available on pairing different pot strains with specific dishes.

Its chef at the time, Andrea Drummer, said “Each day we will smell and taste the strains of cannabis and offer pairings, much as you would do with wine pairings.” The idea is novel and fun, and since it involves the chef, it will likely inspire some highly creative dishes. Californians have been hosting private pot parties since legalization in January 2018. However, that is at home, at friends, not in public.

Lowell Café is a trendsetter, though. The first legally licensed restaurant in West Hollywood for the public to enjoy weed, and even the first in the United States. Designed to lure Hollywood A-listers, it is among the most popular attractions in Los Angeles, for locals and visitors alike. Joy Alison Cohen, a New Yorker among the cafes’ very first guests, called the moment historic.

“I have had to fly to Amsterdam to experience this. No more. We have better pot now too, so it is awesome.” – Joy Alison Cohen

The restaurant has much to feel proud about today. Brady acknowledges this, “We have families that are excited to come in and share it with their relatives and their grandparents. We have people that have reached out from Russia, Tokyo, Italy, who want to plan their vacations to come here specifically for the café.” It is a tourist attraction in its own right, and it is not alone anymore. Others are opening.

You can always order edibles delivered home. Alternatively, you could use the services of a cannachef to prepare fine cuisine for you. However, before you Google “weed delivery near me,” consider the social experience of eating out, cannabis style. The café has space indoors and out, with air filtration that will clean the air and avoid a hotbox-like situation. It makes a great birthday evening out with friends.
