Promotions for some Central government cadres with pay hike

Along with an increase in the dearness allowance, the Central government will also dole out promotions to a few cadres of employees. A formal request made by the employees was approved by the Government recently. The order will be issued by the Personnel Department of the Central government after the approval of President Ram Nath Kovind. Most of the government officials who will bag these promotions work for the Indian Railways.

These promotions are in accordance with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. The salary band will fall under Category III of the 7th Pay matrix.

The move will see officials working as private secretary/ deputy secretary/ joint director/senior principal private secretary with the Railway Board Secretariat Service (RBSS) / Railway Board Secretariat Stenographers Service (RBSSS) promoted to the position of under secretary.

There will also be an increase in entry pay, which will be bumped up from Rs 25,350 to Rs 29,500.

For the officers of the Railway Board Secretariat Service (RBSS), Railway Board Secretariat Stenographer Service (RBSSS) the increase in pay with the promotion will be Rs 15,000 per month, which will reportedly take the pay up from Rs 67,700 to Rs 78,800.

Central government staff have recently enjoyed an increase in their basic salary, dearness allowance, transport allowance and human resource allowance, among others.
