Players officially have a release date for Pokemon UNITE on the Nintendo Switch.

The date dropped earlier today, Thursday, July 15, via the official Pokemon UNITE Twitter account. No longer will excited fans need to worry about whether or not they’ll have the opportunity to play The Pokemon Company’s latest title before the end of the summer. Players will be able to electrify the field with Pikachu or smash opponents as Machamp before the end of July.

The only drawback is that this date only applies to the Switch.

Nintendo Switch players can jump into Pokemon UNITE on July 21, 2021. There may be a way to preload the game before its official launch date, but such a method has yet to be confirmed. As of now, players will need to secure their copy on their devices and log in on the same date. This, of course, could be problematic for the game’s server health.

For this reason, we recommend waiting a day or two—if you can help it. Server overload is an extremely common issue on launch days and can cause inaccessibility or a complete crash. Sometimes, having a bit of patience can be worth it for a smooth play session.

At the time of writing, there is no release date available for mobile players.

Players who sign-on to play before the end of August will also unlock Zerora, the Mythical “Thunderclap” Pokemon.
