PlayVS, an esports platform and operator of high school and collegiate esports leagues in North America, has announced the creation of the PlayVS Cup. The PlayVS Cup, starting in June, will see teams from across PlayVS’ high school-aged competitions get the chance to be crowned the PlayVS Champion in League of Legends, Rocket League, and Fortnite. A championship trophy and scholarship money are on the line.

The first-ever PlayVS Cup is set to start in June after the conclusion of the PlayVS Spring season. Spanning one week, all of the final matches will be broadcasted on the PlayVS Twitch channel.

To be eligible, all championship teams that competed in the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 high schools can enter. For both the League of Legends and Rocket League events, the top 64 high school teams will receive invites to compete. All championship teams are invited to participate in the PlayVS Cup, but it remains optional for players.

The top 100 East and top 100 West players will face off in Fortnite solos, while for Fortnite Trios, the top 66 teams will be invited to compete. Both competitions will face off in two group heats, with the top 50 players advancing to the grand finals.

Note that while PlayVS has entered into an exclusive partnership with the National Federation of State High School Associations network, the PlayVS Cup is not associated or sponsored with the organization or any other state associations for this event.

VALORANT player explains how to boost over Sage wall

Avatar

Published

on

A VALORANT player recently explained how to boost a teammate over Sage’s wall by standing in a corner and crouching.

Sage’s wall is an excellent deterrent that can block a path and stall an advancing enemy team in its tracks. Players can destroy the wall, but this notifies the other team of their movements, which is not ideal.

But a VALORANT player has found a way to boost a teammate over the wall without alerting the enemy Sage. The boost is relatively simple but can be tricky to master. The player being boosted needs to stand in a corner next to the Sage wall. The other player needs to stand directly beside them, crouch, and press either A or D while holding W to move toward them.

The player being boosted needs to crouch jump and land on the other player’s shoulder and then jump again to get on top of the wall. If done correctly, the player will be on top of Sage’s wall and can surprise their enemies.

This is similar to another method used to boost teammates on top of objects. Both maneuvers require players to be in a corner and for the other player to hold their movement keys.

It’s unclear if either method was an intended design, but players should take advantage of them while they’re available. Sage players should also be extra careful when placing their walls.

How to complete Flashback Costa SBC in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team

Avatar

Published

on

EA Sports added a 91-rated Flashback version of Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich to FIFA 21 today. This item is available through the squad-building challenge (SBC) menu in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team.

This is Costa’s second special card in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team. EA added this Flashback version to celebrate his inclusion in the FUT 18 TOTS. The SBC will expire on May 21.

EA greatly upgrated all of Costa’s skills, including Shooting (+17), Physical (+17), Passing (+13), Defending (+7), Dribbling (+4), and Pace (+3), when you compare this new card to his 84-rated gold version. He also has five-star skill moves and a three-star weak foot.

You can maximize his Ball Control and Dribbling by applying the marksman chemistry style to increase his Shooting (+7), Physical (+5), and Dribbling (+4). This will bring something special to the player’s performance regarding his skill set.

Flashback Costa costs around 283,250 FUT coins on Xbox One, 290,850 on PlayStation 4, and 333,600 on PC. This card is fairly priced for his general stats and skills, as well as the possibility to make strong links with other EFL players like 98-rated TOTS Lewandowski, TOTS 86-rated Kimmich, and TOTY 96-rated Neuer.

If you want to complete the Flashback Costa SBC, you’ll need to turn in three squads: Bianconeri, Brazil, and League Finesse. The first solution requires an 83-rated squad with 80 chemistry minimum and at least one player from Piemonte Calcio. The second one asks for an 84-rated squad with 75 chemistry minimum, one Inform or TOTS Moments card, and at least one player from Brazil. The third segment needs to be an 86-rated squad with 65 chemistry minimum, one Inform or TOTS Moments card, and at least one player from Serie A.

Here’s the cheapest solution to complete the Flashback Douglas Costa SBC right now, according to FUTBIN, a website that specializes in FIFA content.

Evil Geniuses drops Deftly, promotes Danny from amateur team to starting ADC position

Avatar

Published

on

After a disappointing end to the 2021 Spring Split, Evil Geniuses has decided to part ways with AD carry Deftly. In his place, the League of Legends team will be promoting 17-year-old ADC Danny from its amateur squad to the LCS.

Deftly was picked up at the start of 2020 for EG’s Academy squad before he was promoted to the main roster at the end of the year. He was joined by a handful of new teammates, including veteran top laner Impact and talented Korean support IgNar. The team even had a decent start to the new year by making it into the semifinals of the 2021 LCS Lock In tournament.

But the rest of the spring wasn’t as impressive from EG. The team struggled to find consistency throughout the season and eventually ended the regular season in sixth place with a 10-8 record. During the 2021 Mid-Season Showdown, they ran into a TSM squad poised for a deep run to the championship and were knocked out of contention in four games.

During the split, Deftly actually didn’t have a bad showing but he didn’t stand out too much either. The 23-year-old had the highest KDA of any LCS ADC during the 2021 Spring Split, but he also had the second-lowest kill participation percentage in his role, according to Oracle’s Elixir.

Meanwhile, Danny—formerly known as Shiro—will be making his LCS debut in the 2021 LCS Summer Split after spending the first half of the year in the amateur competitive scene. He played in multiple smaller North American tournaments like the Upsurge Premier League, the Risen Champions League, and the 2021 Unified Grand Prix. His last tournament was at the 2021 LCS Proving Grounds where EG Amateur made it up to the fourth round before being knocked out by 100 Thieves’ Academy lineup.

“We were delighted to see both of our developmental squads make it to the top six in Proving Grounds, but more importantly, we saw our players make good progress in their growth,” EG’s director of esports Greg Kim said. “Heading into Summer, we look forward to continuing our evolution with some changes to our rosters.”

You can catch Danny in action with his new team when the 2021 LCS Summer Split begins on June 4.
