Path of Exile: Royale Returns With New Features and Improvements

Published

on

Path of Exile Royale

Starting out as an April Fool’s Day joke in 2018, Path of Exile: Royale – a battle royale variant of the action RPG – is making a comeback. It’s currently live for the next 48 hours with Grinding Gear Games featuring it every weekend after the launch of the Expedition League. Of course, the developer has made several improvements and changes to provide a better experience.

The map itself has been completely revamped; 90 skills have been added to the mix, including low level versions of skills that only become available in later acts; and there’s a custom skill tree. Regardless of what class the player starts with, they can take any passives from this skill tree with the interface now occupying the left side of the screen, letting you keep an eye out for any danger. If you happen to win, then you’ll unlock a new feast decoration for your hideout. Winning more matches sees the decoration becoming bigger and more extravagant.

While Path of Exile: Royale will be around for the next weeks, there’s no guarantee that it will be a mainstay so get in on the action now while you can. Path of Exile: Expedition, the newest expansion and League, launches July 23rd for PC and July 28th for consoles. Stay tuned for extensive patch notes next week.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Great Britain Central Scenery & Skiathos Airport Announced; Twin Otter & Airbus A380 Get New Screenshots

Published

on

Today third-party developers had some really interesting news to share about upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons.

The first announcement comes from Orbx, which revealed EU Great Britain Central, a landmark scenery package that doesn’t focus on a single city, but instead covers a large portion of the UK. It features almost 500 points of interest including plenty of details added to seven major cities.

Welcome to Great Britain Central, our first landmark region pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator, designed especially for “low-and-slow” pilots who love to explore and discover new regions, and for those who want to enhance their VFR flights in the area.
Stretching from Liverpool and North Wales up to Newcastle, this region pack captures hundreds of unique landmarks and attractions ready to be explored, from the busy cities such as Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool, to coastal tourist towns such as Blackpool, Scarborough and Whitby, all have been designed to greatly enhance any flight in the region.

During exploration, you can expect to find hundreds of uniquely modelled POIs, including:

  • Uniquely modelled lighthouses and piers
  • Stadiums
  • Famous castles, manor houses and ruins
  • Bridges
  • Churches and Cathedrals
  • Masts, Radomes and military base installations
  • VFR reference points

In addition, the following cities/towns have received an upgraded cityscape adding many unique buildings and giving each city a unique look and feel:

  • Manchester
  • Liverpool
  • Leeds
  • Media City, Salford
  • Sheffield
  • Blackpool
  • Newcastle

We have also added many unique buildings to many of the smaller towns in the area, as well as hand placed boats, storage tanks and many other points of interest.

The next announcement comes from 29Palms, and it’s Skiathos Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport (LGSK).

Like many of Greece’s summer destinations, this airport is host to many seasonal flights from all over Europe.

The developer promises to depict the current state of the airport, including the new apron and more. We also get to see the first screenshot.

Next, Aerosoft provided new work-in-progress screenshots of the de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter showcasing the cargo cabin and the Trans Maldivian Airways livery.

It’s worth mentioning that the Twin Otter has already been confirmed for the Xbox Series X|S version of the simulator.

Last, but certainly not least, FlyByWire released the first screenshots teasing the exterior model of the Airbus A380, which is going to be freeware.

Recently, we published our brand new and massive interview with head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann, focusing on the Xbox version and short and long-term plans for the sim (on both platforms).

Death’s Door: How To Enter Sewer Grates / Lock Circles | Secret Traversal Guide

Published

on

Death’s Door has a Metroidvania-lite structure. You’re always on a linear quest, but you’ll gain new spells as you progress that open more areas of the game for you to explore. You’ll have to obtain these spells by completing nonlinear dungeons, but there’s one obstacle you can use right from the start of the game. You can’t set fires, or blow open walls, or hookshot to anchors until you’ve unlocked those powers. But you can enter Sewer Grates when you first encounter them. You might just never know how.

Opening Sewer Grates — those round symbols on the ground with a lock icon — requires using a power you never have to use in-game, and that you never get any tutorial for. If you’re like me, you saw these weird symbols and just assumed we’d need to get a power-up to access them. Maybe they’re a telepad and we need to gain the portal-summoning skill? There’s nothing like that in this game. You just need to use the right abilities.

Manholes (Sewer Grates) are round sigils on the ground with a lock emblem. They look like things you can’t interact with, but you can use them at any time. You don’t have to unlock anything. They can be used right from the beginning of the game.

  • To enter a Sewer Grate, reach a higher level above them. Drop down and press [Attack] to perform a ground slam strike. You’ll break through the manhole and enter the underground! You can leave by interacting.

Sewer Grates can be used to access secrets and Soul Energy very early in the game, and they utilize a mechanic you might not even realize exists in the game. It wasn’t until very late in the game that I realized how to make these weird mechanics work — and you shouldn’t fall for the same trap. They look like pads for a future movement ability, something you’ll unlock later, but they’re absolutely not. One drop from above can get you into any sewer grate.

Learning to overcome these early will make traversal in later levels so much easier. Eventually, you will need the Hookshot to reach every single one of these Sewer Grates, but there are plenty you can reach before that. And that means plenty of rewards to reap.
