London Spitfire 2021 Roster Preview

Support:

  • Kristian “Kellex” Keller
  • Riku “Ripa” Toivanen

Kristian “Kellex” Keller is an iconic Overwatch League player. He played two years with the Boston Uprising, finishing the Overwatch League Inaugural Season in the third position. The 2019 season did not go as well, and Kellex left the Uprising. After a short time with the Toronto Defiant, he went back to Contenders. He met his support duo with the British Hurricane, as the team snatched trophies in the Overwatch Contenders 2020 Europe.

Riku “Ripa” Toivanen played a year with the Los Angeles Gladiators. The team ended in the 5th position in the Overwatch League and released its roster at the end of the season. Ripa went back to the Contenders, with London Spitfire’s academy team. With British Hurricane, he dominated the Overwatch Contenders 2020 Europe. The team won both seasons, as well as The Gauntlet: Europe. Ripa is now back in the League, promoted from the academy team to the main roster of London Spitfire.

Tank:

  • Hadi Daniel “Hadi” Bleinagel
  • Mikkel “Molf1g” Djernes

Just like Ripa and Kellex, Hadi Daniel “Hadi” Bleinagel made his way in the Overwatch Contenders with the British Hurricane. He also represented Team Germany during the Overwatch World Cup 2019, protecting his team as the main tank.

Completing the tanking line is Mikkel “Molf1g” Djernes. The off-tank player is already used to playing with his main tank, as both Hadi and Molf1g played with the British Hurricane. Molf1g mainly plays D.Va and Sigma, leaving a gap in the tanking hero pool. This did not stop the British Hurricane to dominate the Overwatch Contenders, but it may be inconvenient against more flexible League opponents.

DPS:

  • Jeffrey “blasé” Tsangz
  • Dominic “Hybrid” Grove
  • Johannes “Shax” Nielsen
  • William “SparkR” Andersson

Jeffrey “blasé” Tsang is another familiar face from the Overwatch League joining the London Spitfire this season. The player began his Overwatch League career in 2018, with the Boston Uprising. The team ended the season in 19th place, out of 20 teams. The following year, blasé joined Houston Outlaws. This new season wasn’t the brightest either, and the Houston Outlaws ended in 16th place. Blasé is now back for a third season in the Overwatch League, alongside the London Spitfire.

Dominic “Hybrid” Grove is a brand new face coming to the Overwatch League this year. He played with various teams in the Contenders, his latest being Team Doge. While his teams never really peaked, Hybrid proved to be a consistent hitscan DPS.

The London Spitfire also welcomes another new player to the League: William “SparkR” Andersson. The player popped off in the Overwatch Contenders with British Hurricane and is now waiting to turn 18 to join the Overwatch League.

Last but not least, Johannes “Shax” Nielsen is completing the London Spitfire 2021 roster. Shax already has experience within the Overwatch League, playing with the Los Angeles Valiant for over a year. Shax is mainly known for his Tracer and Reaper skills, as well as his ability to flex on hitscan heroes.

London Spitfire 2021 Roster Analysis

The London Spitfire is heading to the Overwatch League 2021 Season with a solid, yet still young, roster. Most players already know each other, as they played with the London Spitfire’s academy team in Contenders, British Hurricane.

However, success in the Overwatch Contenders does not equal success in the Overwatch League. Against stronger lineups like the San Francisco Shock, it is hard for any team to compare.
