Date:

The Atlanta Reign takes the 15th position of our Overwatch League 2021 Season power rankings.

Atlanta kept some core players, signed a new DPS from the Los Angeles Valiant and two rookies from the Overwatch Contenders.

Atlanta Reign 2021 Roster Preview

Tank:

  • Blake “Gator” Scott
  • Xander “Hawk” Domecq

If you have ever heard of the GOATS strategy in Overwatch, you already know Blake “Gator” Scott. The American player was part of the roster that launched the devastating composition on the entire Overwatch competitive scene. He is also a key member of the Atlanta Reign, playing with the team or its academy equivalent in the Overwatch Contenders since 2018.

Xander “Hawk” Domecq is also a popular player from the Atlanta Reign and the ATL Academy. He joined the academy team in late 2018 and was promoted to the Atlanta Reign a year later. Since then, he forms the tanking duo of the Atlanta Reign with Gator, playing off-tank heroes.

Support:

  • Petja “Masaa” Kantanen
  • Seung-hyun “Ir1s” Kim

Just like the tanking duo, Petja “Masaa” Kantanen is a known face to Atlanta supporters. The main support plays with the Atlanta Reign since 2018. At the end of the Overwatch League 2020 Season, the Atlanta Reign changed its support duo, promoting flex support player Steven “Kodak” Rosenberger to a coaching position.

Seung-hyun “Ir1s” Kim came to the Atlanta Reign last July to fill the flex support position. Ir1s got noticed in the Overwatch Contenders, placing second of the Contenders 2020 Season 1: North America with Third Impact. He also played a few games with the Atlanta Reign last season but did not have enough time to find his place in the team and show his worth.

DPS:

  • Tae-hoon “Edison” Kim
  • Kai “Kai” Collins
  • Se-hyun “Pelican” Oh

The most interesting changes to the Atlanta Reign roster happen on the DPS line. Besides Tae-hoon “Edison” Kim, who played with the team last year, the two other DPS players from the roster arrived this season.

The Atlanta Reign signed Kai “Kai” Collins, previously known as KSP, from the Los Angeles Valiant. His hitscan skills helped the team place third during the Overwatch League 2020 May Melee tournament. However, it was not enough to go past the Semifinals of the Overwatch League 2020 North America Playoffs.

To this experienced DPS roster, the Atlanta Reign brings a promising talent from the Overwatch Contenders. Se-hyun “Pelican” Oh, a skilled Sombra player from 02 Blast, joins the Atlanta Reign for the Overwatch League 2021 Season. With his team, Pelican won the Overwatch Contenders 2020 Season 1: Korea. At 18 years old, Pelican makes his first steps in the Overwatch League this season with the Atlanta Reign.

Atlanta Reign 2021 Power Rankings

The Atlanta Reign is heading to the Overwatch League 2021 Season with the same core roster as last year and new promising additions. The Atlanta Reign 2021 roster is not bad, but the addition of a couple of players might not be enough to pull the team out of its lethargy.

During the Overwatch League 2020 Season, the Atlanta Reign didn’t perform badly just not good enough to rank higher than 5th place.

The competition is getting heavier this Season, so the Atlanta Reign ranks a bit lower than its previous result in the League. The team falls at the 16th place of our Overwatch League 2021 power rankings but could rank slightly higher if Oh “Pelican” Se-hyun finds his marks in the League quickly enough.
