A recent Overwatch 2 report again reaffirms that the sequel of Overwatch most likely won’t be releasing in 2021. However, it hasn’t ruled out the potential of adding heroes for the current Overwatch game.

Plenty of rumors have surrounded Overwatch 2 as of late. Including information about the game being released prior to its announcement. Now, according to sources at the Overwatch League, claims that the entirety of the 2021 season will be played on one game, rather than the two we were hoping for. This is all according to Robert Hanes at GameHaus, who reported that we shouldn’t expect OW2 in 2021.

While fans were hoping for an Overwatch 2, they also had their sites on new heroes as well. However, when asked about the potential for new heroes to be added, the league source said it was “unlikely.” The only positive we can take is that the source didn’t give a definitive “no.” With Echo being the last hero for Overwatch according to previous dev statements, the push back of the Overwatch League and delay for Overwatch 2 lets us speculate that we might get a new hero because of these delays.

The Overwatch League is set to start in April 2021. and we’ll be able to learn a lot more about Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon, which is on Feb. 19-20. Make sure to stay tuned in for all updates.
