Niantic confirms potential in-app purchase delays days ahead of Pokémon Go Fest 2021

Date:

Pokémon Go players have been noting some issues with in-app purchases for the last several days, and Niantic has now confirmed that delays might continue impacting players for a bit longer.

On the official “Known Issues” support page for Pokémon Go, Niantic has said that an ongoing issue could have players seeing delays of up to 72 hours from purchasing any in-game items to the item appearing in their Item Bag. According to Niantic, the delay has been mitigated in version 0.213 of the app and the team is “continuing to investigate the root cause.”

This is perhaps the worst timing possible for an issue like this to begin plaguing the game, with the biggest event of the year, Pokémon Go Fest 2021 is set to run on July 17 and 18. Now, players will potentially need to purchase any items or supplies days in advance or risk not receiving them in time to utilize them during Go Fest. There is still a chance the delay might not affect every player, but this is now looming over the community heading into the weekend.

If players do not receive their purchased items after 72 hours, Niantic recommends contacting its support team with their purchase receipt, including the purchase order number and the email address attached to the Pokémon Go account. This method should also be used if a player is unable to access an event, such as Go Fest, due to any delay.
