New Pokemon Snap: How To Unlock All Locations | Completion Guide

Published

on

Want to explore everything New Pokemon Snap has to offer? Then you’re going to want to rush through the story and unlock every area on the islands. There are 12+ unique locations to explore, with special alternate versions and hidden paths to uncover. It isn’t always obvious how to progress in the story — and there’s one particular event that many players are going to struggle with. If you need to know how to unlock all the areas, we’ve got a complete list of progression requirements below.

And once you unlock all the areas, you’re free to spend more time snapping pics of Pokemon. This isn’t really a game about making progress — this is a game you’re meant to spend time with and enjoy. It’s a chill hike through some Pokemon-infested nature. Progressing will also give you more tools to get the best snaps possible. Reaching the final islands will unlock the Turbo function on your vehicle, allowing you to speed up and skip straight to the action. There’s a lot more to uncover, and the game is less linear than you might think.

How To Get 1, 2, 3 & 4 Star Photos | Beginner’s Guide | Florio Nature Park (Day) | All Requests | Florio Nature Park (Night) | All Requests

To progress in the game, you don’t need to earn points and level up areas too much — if you want to quickly unlock all the different areas, follow this basic pattern.

  • Play the (Day) stage twice — or reach Research Level 2. It should take about two runs to hit Research Level 2 for almost any stage.
    • In the (Night) stage, you may need to take a picture of a glowing Illumina Bulb. Do it — that’s the only picture you’re required to take.
  • On some stages / routes, you’ll also unlock Illumina Spots. Play through these once and take plenty of pictures to progress.
    • Once you unlock the Illumina Orb for a region, make sure to replay the route once.

This only works when completing the maps in the order they’ve unlocked. If nothing is progressing after playing a map twice, you may need to play any of the other maps you’ve unlocked — for me, I didn’t need to play the extra maps more than once to unlock additional routes.

Starting Path – The First Illumina Spot, And Unlocking All Four Islands

  • Florio Nature Park (Day) – Complete 2 runs.
  • Florio Nature Park (Night) – Take a photo of the glowing Illumina Bulb.
  • Florio Illumina Spot – Complete 1 run.
  • Founja Jungle (Day) – Complete 1 run.
  • Founja Jungle (Night) – Complete 1 run.
  • Sweltering Sands (Day) – Complete 1 run.
  • Blushing Beach (Day) – Reach Research Level 2.
    • Unlocks Maricopa Reef (Day)

NOTE: The following three paths can be completed in any order.

Branching Path #1 – To Elsewhere Forest Illumina Spot

  • Sweltering Sands (Night) – Take a photo of the glowing crystabloom on the right, before sliding down the sand near the end. Replay Sweltering Sands with the Illumina Orb unlocked.
    • Unlocks Fireflow Volcano.
  • Elsewhere Forest – Reach Research Level 2.
  • Elsewhere Forest Illumina Spot – Complete 1 run. Get a good picture by throwing an apple at Milotic to make it emerge.
    • Unlocks Research Camp. (Unlocks a new Research Camp route if the Research Camp is already unlocked.)

Branching Path #2 – To Lental Seafloor Illumina Spot

  • Maricopa Reef (Day) – Reach Research Level 2.
  • Lental Seafloor – Take a snap of the crystabloom near the beginning. When you reach the field of seaweed, throw a fluffruit to wake up the Pokemon blocking the glowing crystabloom on the right. Use scan to find its location.
    • To unlock the Lental Seafloor Illumina Spot, reach Research Level 2 and then throw an Illumina Orb at a Clawitzer to your front-left, right at the start of the level. It will move forward — throw another Illumina Orb and it will blast open the rock cave to your left before reaching the seaweeds. Follow this optional path!
  • Lental Seafloor Illumina Spot – Complete 1 run. Throw Illumina Orbs at the Wishi-Washi so they change to their School Form — then you can get good snaps of the Illumina Pokemon.
    • Unlocks Research Camp. (Unlocks a new Research Camp route if the Research Camp is already unlocked.)

Branching Path #4 – To Fireflow Volcano Illumina Spot

  • Fireflow Volcano – Reach Research Level 2. Replay Fireflow Volcano to find the ruins entrance.
  • Fireflow Volcano Illumina Spot – Complete 1 run. Throw fluffruit to extinguish the flames and use Illumina Orbs for a good snap.
    • Unlocks Research Camp. (Unlocks a new Research Camp route if the Research Camp is already unlocked.)

Ending Path – To The Caves Illumina Spot

NOTE: Complete all four Illumina Spots to reveal the final island.

  • Shiver Snowfields (Day): Reach Research Level 2.
  • Shiver Snowfields (Night): Take a picture of a glowing crystabloom — you’ll find it up the steep hill, and down below the cracks in the ground.
    • Complete 1 run of the Shiver Snowfields (Night) with Illumina Orbs to unlock the next level.
    • This unlocks the Outaway Cave and Blushing Beach (Night).
  • Outaway Cave: Reach Research Level 2.
  • Outaway Cave Illumina Spot: Complete 1 run.
  • Ruins of Remembrance: Reach Research Level 2.
  • Ruins of Remembrance Illumina Spot: Complete 1 run.

Work-In-Progress: Check back soon for new updates.

Castlevania Advance Collection Appears on Ratings Board

Published

on

There’s a chance we might be getting a new collection of Castlevania games if the Australian ratings board is any indication. Something called “Castlevania Advance Collection” has appeared on the board, and assuming it’s real and that it ever gets released, we could get another chance to play some slightly more obscure games in the series. We’ll know more if the game is ever released, which hopefully it will be.

The name “Advance Collection” would seem to imply that the game is a compilation of the games that were released on the Game Boy Advance. Three games in the series were released on that platform: Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow. Again, there’s no way to know for sure that these will be the games in the Advance Collection, or that the Advance Collection is available at all, but it’s the logical conclusion.

Assuming this rating is accurate, however, we can’t glean very much from it. The release is “multiplatform,” which could honestly mean anything. I could mean the game is coming to consoles, or it could mean it’s coming to mobile devices. The games are apparently very difficult to find, as Gamesradar reports physical copies go on eBay for high prices. Since there’s no other way to play these games, that means they would be prime candidates for a remastered rerelease.

Castlevania is still a hot IP, despite its age, and I’m honestly surprised that no new games have been made to capitalize on the success of the animated Netflix show. The last game in the series was Lords of Shadow 2, which is separate from the main continuity. We know that the Netflix show is getting a spin-off set during the French Revolution. It’ll star Maria Renard and Richter Belmont, neither of whom are in the aforementioned Advance games.

Square Enix Extends Final Fantasy Origin Demo After Its Corrupt Launch

Published

on

During its E3 show this week, Square Enix officially revealed its new Soulsian Final Fantasy spin-off: Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. To pique gamers’ interest, the company launched the gameplay demo on PS5 as soon as the show had ended. But unfortunately, the first players who attempted to play this demo found that it was corrupted. To make up for that, Square Enix is extending the demo period for a few extra days.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin … you know what, that’s as awkward to write as it is to say, so I’ll just call it FF Origin for the sake of this article. FF Origin, which is in some way related to the original Final Fantasy, stars three men who are on a quest to kill an entity called Chaos. So far, so typical. Square Enix announced during the show that the game, which will be available on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles, will have a gameplay demo on PS5.

However, within minutes of them announcing this, users who rushed to the PlayStation Store to download the demo reported that it was corrupt and they couldn’t play it. This was rectified fairly quickly by the company, but it’s amusing considering that the company was imploring users for feedback. So to make up for this, PS5 users can now download the demo until June 26.

FF Origin has already garnered a bit of a curious reaction from gamers, considering what few details we know about the game so far. What relation the characters have to the first Final Fantasy is not clear, but Tetsuya Nomura has said that the two games do share a setting. The main characters are also very simply dressed for the series, and Nomura has also implied there’s some significance to this too. I suppose we’ll know for sure when the game is released sometime in 2022.

Fan Makes New F-Zero Game in Nintendo’s Game Builder Garage

Published

on

Credit: Twitter/ZeldaBoi1

An avid fan has done what Nintendon’t and made a new F-Zero game — with Nintendo’s own software. Someone has recreated the F-Zero experience using Game Builder Garage, and you can play their recreation of the sci-fi racing game now, provided you have Garage. It’s a reminder that almost every game series, no matter how obscure, has people who want it brought back, and are willing to make their own versions when the official creators fall short.

In case you haven’t heard of it, Game Builder Garage is Nintendo’s intro to game design, a kid-friendly course in how to make your own game with simplified instructions. Users can not only build their own games, but they can also share them with others. And if you haven’t heard of the series in question either, the best way I can describe F-Zero is that it’s the home series of Captain Falcon.

There hasn’t been a proper F-Zero game with that name in the title since 2004, with the release of F-Zero Climax. Unless Nintendo is planning to really surprise us soon, then I think the franchise can be considered dead in the water — more’s the pity. But there are F-Zero fans who want the series brought back, and I think we can safely say that the creator of this fan project is one of them.

The creator of the “game” is a Twitter user called ZeldaBoi1, and it’s not their first game made in Garage either, as they’ve also made a version of Mario Kart. They’ve posted the code so that others can play the game as well. Ordinarily, I’d tell everyone to hurry and try it out before Nintendo’s lawyers swoop down on us all, but in this case, I’m not sure whether they’d even want to stop someone making a game using their own software — isn’t that the point of Garage in the first place?

Published

on

Kadokawa Games has released a new video, a new picture and new details about its upcoming strategy simulation JRPG Relayer.

Thanks to this new set of assets, we get to know Mercury a little better and we get the introduction of her voice actress Mariko Honda.

The image you can see below shows Mercury in a couple of different poses, while the has Honda-san introduce herself and her character to the fans. You may be familiar with her due to her roles as Yuuko Aioi in Nichijou, Katsumi Nakase in Steins;Gate 0, and more.

The tweets reveal that Mercury is a “serious class rep-type Star Child.” At first she isn’t very social with the rest of the crew of the Asterism, but getting involved with Terra changes that little by little.

Relayer will be released simultaneously worldwide for PS4 and PS5 in 2021. A couple of days ago, we published an extensive interview with producer and director Yoshimi Yasuda.

If you’d like to learn more, you can check out the original reveal, additional details, the first trailer, another promotional video, the first reveal of the rich cast of characters that will populate the game, and the second.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here’s an official description.

Story

Humanity is not alone in the universe.

In the year 2049, mankind finally meets intelligent life: the Relayers. Around the same time, the discovery of an ancient alien civilization sets the wheels of fate in motion for the Starchildren, humans bestowed with unique powers.

Then, in the year 2051, our story begins one fateful day when two young women cross paths in Artemis, a colony located on the surface of the Moon. Get ready for an intergalactic adventure where humans and ancient aliens meet, and our stellar neighbors come to life!

Setting

Relayer takes place in the Milky Way galaxy, within our solar system. In the not-too-distant future, humanity has extended its sphere of influence to Jupiter, with the moon and Mars already established as colonies. Humanity’s very existence is threatened by mysterious extraterrestrials known as the Relayers, who plan to annihilate the universe. As if in response to the Relayers’ invasion, the Starchildren, human successors to the wills of the stars, awaken.

A simulation RPG where you lead your troops to victory using strategy & 4 different types of spacecraft!

In Relayer, players participate in turn-based battles, where each different unit plays its own specific role in combat. There are four different types of Stellar Gear, or spacecraft controlled by a Starchild: Assault, Sniper, Tank, and Scout. Each type’s attack range and weaponry vary, so players will be required to position themselves according to the unique battle situation.

Players can also employ various combat strategies, such as using “hate” to draw the enemy’s attention, allowing certain allies to act as decoys, and calling upon allies to push the enemy back.

This is the first new simulation RPG for PS5 from the highly acclaimed GOD WARS development team!

Overcome challenges by customizing your character’s occupation!

In Relayer, each character can be assigned to one of the 20 unique job types and 20+ general-purpose jobs in-game. Jobs distinguish your character as an individual, and it can even give you an advantage in battle! There are over 80 jobs to choose from, and each one is unique.

An interstellar adventure with more than 80 stages!

In addition to the main scenario, Relayer contains 80+ stages, including the side story The Asterism’s Voyage, which is unlocked as the story progresses. Enjoy the episodes that delve into the characters’ backgrounds, solve the mystery of the birth of the Moon—a science fiction fan-favorite—and experience the world of Relayer to the fullest!
