In another show of strong push for mainstream adoption of bitcoin, a new luxury car detail shop in Milwaukee is accepting the crypto as payment for its services.
Owners of the Detail Doctor’s at N. Van Buren Street that opened just this June 7 believe the nascent digital asset will only get more popular over time, leading to their decision to accept it as compensation for the services they provide through crypto exchange platform Coinbase.
“That one day I would think that it would be registered with the Federal Reserve. We wanted to stay ahead of the curve and things are changing every day,” said co-owner Donato Salvo regarding their decision to allow customers to pay with bitcoin.
Not just bitcoin
The luxury car detail shop owners also shared it is not just bitcoin that they will accept in addition to the traditional forms of payment.
They will also allow the use of ethereum, USD coin, litecoin, dai and bitcoin cash. Unfortunately for all dogecoin and Elon Musk supporters out there, the meme cryptocurrency did not make the list of the viable cryptos for compensating Detail Doctor’s.
On its first day of operation, the shop had luxury cars come in such as an Aventador S Lamborghini that is valued at around $500,000, a Maserati and Cadillac. The owners, however, did not say if any of the customers paid by bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency.
Opposing Tesla’s move
Although their roles in the car industry are different, Tesla and the local luxury car shop do share the same element of being involved with cryptocurrencies.
Tesla made headlines after it announced accepting bitcoin as payment for its cars only to have a complete 180-degree turn a few months later.
As for Detail Doctor’s, they’ve opposed the move and decided to accept the crypto as compensation for any work done on their shop.
