How do we distinguish between real and virtual world , how can we be sure we are not living in a simulation what if we make the real and virtual world indistinguishable. I am not talking about the VR glasses that we currently have, I am talking about feeling the sense of touch , sense of smell , sense of falling freely as you jump from the helicopter in a Virtual World , bored of the real world , live as a survivor in a zombie Apocalypse, go back to Jurassic age , discover a planet with alien life. Seems like a plot of some sci-fi movie , believe it or not it’s possible to achieve this with current technology we have right now.
This magic happens when we merge Neurotech with Deep Learning , for those of all who are not familiar with term deep learning it refers to mimicking the functions of brain. It involves Neural Networks that are designed to replicate the neurons in our brain. We will start this process by training the neurochip to function as a part of brain.
First things first we need to see the virtual world , how to do that without the VR glasses screen , one way to do this is by connecting the neurochip to a powerful computer where the virtual world will be rendered in real time and it will process those images and covert it into a suitable form and transmit it to neurochip these visual information will then be converted to electrical signals that brain can understand and send to visual cortex. This will basically trick the brain into thinking that these visuals are being seen by our very own eyes. The same principle will apply to hearing sounds. Now let us see how would we feel things.
1. The Possibility of AR on the Urban Space
We can touch anything in a virtual world just by reaching out to it by our hands the sensors will detect our hand motion and the computer will convey all the information about the object we have touched like it’s texture, roughness or smoothness , how hard or soft is it to the neurochip which is already trained to recognize different types of objects and give us a sense of touch. These are just a few examples it will be capable of doing so much more.
One way you can fix everything you think is wrong with this world is by having your own world, a world in which you can be whatever you want to be , you can be the star footballer for your favorite club , be the most famous Hollywood actress, become an astronaut and go on to discover new and exciting planets, be the one to cure cancer in your world, meet your loved ones again that you have lost , all of this will be possible one day but the question is will you choose to.
