The first major patch for NBA 2K22 on Current Gen since launch has just landed.

For those on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch wondering what the 20-30GB update was for, here’s a breakdown of the NBA 2K22 Current Gen Oct. 5 Update 1.4 patch notes.

Here is the list of patch notes for the Oct. 5 update for NBA 2K22 Current Gen:

As touched on earlier, the file size for this patch was unusually large, amounting to 28GB on PS4 and 33GB on Xbox One. Upon first glance, it does remain unclear exactly why the update was so large.

According to u/wojtas011 on the r/NBA2k Subreddit, however, the update size is determined by the game’s file structure, and when 2K can’t merge new things into these files, players are required to redownload them altogether.

Ultimately, this means that this update technically only takes up an additional 1GB when all is said and done, if anything.

Nevertheless, the actual changes are reportedly live now on PS4 and Xbox One, and seem pretty solid overall.

Especially with the ability to purchase Skill Boosts from anywhere, it’s nice that they brought the feature over from Next Gen to the Cancha Del Mar.

It will be interesting, however, if now 2K brings over some of the new quality of life updates included in this Current Gen patch over to Next Gen, such as the Perfect Release SFX descriptions and the camera zoom adjustments.
