MultiVersus: Settings You Need To Change

Date:

MultiVersus, like many fighting games, has a lot of settings that can be altered. They will benefit the player regardless of what character they choose in the end. This game requires precise movements that can lead a player to victory. If these settings are not changed, this can cause a player to leave a lost match slightly annoyed.

Here are settings that a lot of people who come from the crossover fighting game genre can use to get a competitive edge. There are also some fun ones at the end for players who want a little extra.

Steam Settings For Playstation Controller

Controller Settings In Big Screen Mode On SteamController Settings In Big Screen Mode On Steam

This is important for steam players who are using PlayStation controllers so that they can see their PlayStation controller buttons inside of MultiVersus’ settings. To change this they’ll want to:

  • Boot Steam up on Big Picture Mode.
  • Disable the PlayStation Configuration Support.
  • Once this is done, you have to boot up the game with Big Picture Mode to keep the PlayStation inputs.
    • – If players do not boot up MultiVersus with big picture mode, then they will lose the PlayStation inputs in the settings of the game, and they will go back to Xbox controller inputs.
    • – This must be done any time the game is played if the player wants to see the correct inputs.

Controls For Super Smash Bros Players

This is how players can change their settings so that the game controls are set up like those in Super Smash Bros games:

  • Open the game and go to the Settings Cog.
  • Go to the Controller Option.
  • On top, it will say Input Preset, and players must make sure to click the Legacy button.

Neutral Attack/Special

The input in-game is usually set to the attack button for the neutral attack and the special button for neutral specials. This isn’t optimal; players will find themselves accidentally doing a forward attack or special a lot of the time when they’re trying to do a regular neutral. This is how you change these buttons:

  • Open the game and go to the Settings Cog.
  • Go to the Controller Options.
  • Under Neutral, the button will have no input.
    • – Players can set this button to whatever they find most comfortable–players usually go for one of the bumpers.
  • Under Neutral Special, players will want to set this to another button.
    • – Players usually use the other front bumper for this one.
  • While players are on Controller Settings, they’ll also want to choose whether they’re more comfortable with their Right Stick doing Attacks or Specials.

Interface

Settings For The MultiVersus InterfaceSettings For The MultiVersus Interface

Players are going to want to set up the interface in this way so that everything is easily viewable without taking away from the game. To change the interface:

  • Open the game and go to the Settings Cog.
  • Go to the Interface.
  • A player should set Scoreboard Position to Top.
  • The Damage Position should be sent to Both.
  • Players should put the Cooldown Position to Both.
    • – For damage and cooldown position, it will make it so players always know what’s going on.
  • For Player Name Position, it can be set to the player’s preference.
    • – If players stream the game, it’s recommended to have it set to Both so that people can follow character names easily if they happen to jump on. Other than that, this isn’t very important to the flow of the game.
  • At the bottom, players will want to Check Knockback Influence–this allows them to view the trajectory of a character’s initial trajectory when it’s altered by knockback influence.

Here are fun options for players. These won’t help in terms of how well players do, but they will make the game a little more enjoyable:

  • To change the color of the player, partner, and opponents:
    • – Go to Interface.
    • – Players need to scroll down a bit and they’ll get to Colors.
  • If players are worried about dropping frames:
    •  – Check a box called Show Framerate.
  • If players want mature language in their game:
    • – Players should go to the Audio/Language tab.
    • – Scroll to the bottom.
    • – At the bottom check the Mature Language tab.
