MultiVersus: How To Play Shaggy

Date:

Shaggy is one of the goofiest characters to have been included in the MultiVersus roster, but a good Shaggy player is no joke. He has a rage state that allows him to have moves that can’t be broken by enemies. Shaggy also has a projectile right off the bat which allows him to create space. Shaggy’s kit is an unbearable force of pounding at close range.

Through taking note of these tips and practice Shaggy can be easily mastered. This guide will allow players to get a feel for him and hopefully win them some more matches at the end of the day.

Moves And What They Do

To understand how to use Shaggy players need to take a deep look into his move list which is presented as follows along with some tips for each move:

Specials

Zoinks (Neutral Special)

  • Zoinks charges Shaggy’s RAGE mode which gives Shaggy powerful specials.
  • This move is virtually useless unless fully charged.
  • Once fully charged Shaggy gains rage and can apply enraged to allies. He also drops a scooby snack that slightly heals him.
  • When Shaggy is RAGED his attacks hit harder, move further, and give him ARMOR which makes his attack unbreakable as well as apply the maximum stacks of WEAKENED on hit enemies which launch them farther.
  • Shaggy will want to make sure he is in an off position when charging this.
  •  He will want to try and use this ability as much as possible as it can get him easy kills.
  • Zoinks can also be used to stall by making Shaggy go far off stage.

Chiller instinct (Side Special)

  • Shaggy does a flying kick forward while on the ground.
  • While in the air Shaggy does the same thing.
  • This move must be timed well as it leaves players vulnerable to attacks for a while if not timed correctly.
  • This move combined with the Zoinks stall can make shaggy have absurd recovery power.

Power Uppercut  (Up Special)

  • Shaggy does an uppercut and flies into the air.
  • If shaggy is RAGED he will hit multiple times.
  • In the air, it’s the same but does not hit multiple times with rage.
  • This is one of Shaggy’s strongest moves as it has the potential to kill low-health opponents if Shaggy is RAGED.

Like, Feed The Hunger (Down Ground Special)

  • Shaggy gets a sandwich.
  • It can be thrown as a projectile and heals teammates it passes.
  • If RAGED and holding the sandwich Shaggy will become larger and do more damage. This move is amazing as it can kill opponents early.
  • If RAGED and not holding a sandwich then Shaggy will do a slam attack with a ground projectile that can kill enemies at low health.

Like, C’Mere Man (Down Air Special)

  • Shaggy launches towards the ground and gains ARMOR hitting enemies when landing.
  • If RAGED with a sandwich he will throw a super sandwich projectile.
  • If RAGED without a sandwich he will create shockwaves when landing.

Attacks

Knuckle Sandwich (Neutral Ground Attack)

  • A powerful straight punch that while charging gives Shaggy ARMOR.
  • This move can have a slow start but the potential to kill with it is massive damage and launch output.
  • Players want to use this move when they’re certain they can hit it without their opponent getting behind them.

Flurrious Feet (Neutral Air Attack)

  • Shaggy does a flurry of kicks that hit multiple times.
  • This is one of Shaggy’s best moves as it has priority over most other characters’ moves.
  • It’s also good for creating openings and approaching enemies.

Combo Meal (Side Attack)

  • A combo of punches that ends in a powerful headbutt.
  • This can be great as like most fast attacks it has priority over most moves so players will want to use it to quickly start or continue a combo.

Like, Knee Strike (Side Air Attack)

  • A knee forward that can be charged.
  • The knee has a little bit of buildup so it must be practiced for its timing.
  • The knee can be very valuable if an opponent is sliding off the edge of the stage as it can be a powerful finishing blow.

Like, Overhead Swing! (Up Ground Attack)

  • Charges an overhead swing.
  • This movie is okay and should only be used when starting a combo as it doesn’t have a ton of knockback but can be great for juggling.
  • This move does have some super armor so that can be very useful when planning on when to use it.

Flying Slacker Smack (Up Air Attack)

  • A sweeping swing above Shaggy.
  • This attack is one of the go-to attacks that players are going to want to go in for a kill as it can be combined with the Up Special and get players a kill.

Power Stomp (Down Ground Attack)

  • Charge an Armored stomp that breaks Armor.
  • If the attack lands it can be pressed again to combo into a slap that SLOWS enemies.
  • This move has spiking properties and can be used to spike enemies downward and get players a kill when defending the corner of the stage.

Get Down, Man (Down Air Attack)

  • Shaggy uses a two-handed pound to knock enemies downward.
  • If this attack lands players can use it to instantly combo into an uppercut.

Tips

Shaggy Versus Shaggy in Practice ModeShaggy Versus Shaggy in Practice Mode

Here are a few extra tips so that players can fully understand Shaggy’s character as a whole:

  • Anytime a player catches a character in the air always try to go for the up air attack + up special combo as this does huge damage or will land a kill.
  • Try and keep players above air as much as possible as this is going to help players make the most of Shaggy’s abilities.
  • Anytime Shaggy can get their opponent away remember to charge his Zoink
  • Zoink can stay charged for a long time so try and do a good deal of damage before using it to pull off a kill.
  • The second Shaggy gets a kill he should be grabbing a sandwich and charging his Zoink.
  • Shaggy is a Brawler and does great at close range so he wants to be placing a lot of pressure on characters and always chasing characters off the stage.
  • The more Shaggy hits an enemy the more WEAKENED so use this knowledge to try and deal a lot of consecutive damage and stay close to an opponent.
