MeetinVR, a Danish world-leading platform for collaborative meetings in virtual reality, today announced the launch on the Oculus Store. Starting today, every Quest and Quest 2 user can simply download and start using MeetinVR.

“We are very excited to be launching on the Oculus Store. This will enable many more people to access MeetinVR’s powerful collaboration tools with minimal effort.” — Cristian-Emanuel Anton, Co-founder, and CEO of MeetinVR

The company’s vision is to make both customer and internal business meetings better than in real life. It does this by making human interaction more intuitive, effective and gives participants “superpowers”.

The need for remote working solutions continues to rise and is creating a permanent change in enterprise meeting environments across the globe. Because of this change, Fortune 500 companies and private users are keen to explore the possibilities of VR collaboration. Within the last five years, MeetinVR has signed many multinational corporations, which have chosen the product because of its exceptional user experience and innovative interaction design. Furthermore, the VR application is designed in a very intuitive manner, with attention to detail in every design choice, highlighting the Nordic roots of the company.

The solution is available on stand-alone VR headsets including the Oculus Quest 1 and 2, Pico Neo 2, and computer-tethered HMDs. Since not everyone has their own virtual reality headset yet, MeetinVR provides a desktop solution that allows anyone to interact with their virtual reality environments using the hardware they already have. It is equipped with all the essential VR collaboration tools such as spatial sound, 2D/3D drawing, media casting, and speech-to-text note-taking. Moreover, MeetinVR has a set of more distinctive features such as being able to shake hands virtually, 360 media casting, Microsoft OneDrive integration, meeting management, and a set of tools for workshop participants, facilitators, and moderators.

Last year, the company announced partnerships with Wolf3D and Varjo. The Wolf3D integration has brought personalized selfie-based avatars to the platform. This feature, in line with the content upload, meeting scheduler, and team management, is available for registered users only. Without signing up for a 30-day free trial, people can only experience MeetinVR with pre-populated demo content. The Varjo partnership, on the other hand, opened the doors into mixed reality applications for the Danish company. Because of this, MeetinVR and Varjo have a bundle offer culminating the most advanced virtual collaboration tool with unmatched visual resolution fidelity and supercharged virtual meetings for enterprises.

If you’re used to working with video calls and prefer sticking to what’s familiar, MeetinVR will soon have a solution for that as well. MeetinVR will feature essential integrations, allowing you to peer into the world of VR via the video conferencing solution within just a few simple clicks.

Furthermore, non-VR users can do more than just listen, they can actively participate in VR meetings too. In the upcoming update, desktop users will see even more features and functionality that will allow them to harness the features of the platform without any additional hardware costs. Finally, since the collaborative environments can get pretty crowded sometimes, MeetinVR is also creating voice zones, so multiple teams in one room can work together without being overwhelmed with chatter from their neighbors.

Search for MeetinVR on the Oculus Store and meet in VR today.

HTC’s Wireless Adapter Doesn’t Support Vive Pro 2’s Full Resolution Or 120Hz

When used with Vive Pro 2, the Vive Wireless Adapter doesn’t support the full resolution or 120 Hz mode.

The adapter currently operates at 1224×1224 per eye 90 Hz when used with Vive Pro 2.

HTC says it will increase the resolution to 1632×1632 “soon”, presumably via a firmware update.

The Vive Wireless Adapter first shipped in late 2018 for $299. HTC currently sells it for $349, which includes parts needed to affix it to the Cosmos & Pro headset series.

Even the upcoming resolution falls far short of Vive Pro 2’s full per-eye resolution – 2448×2448. The Vive Wireless Adapter uses a high bandwidth 60 GHz signal, but it looks like HTC is running into the bandwidth limit with Pro 2.

HTC announced the Vive Pro 2 earlier this week using the same design as the original but switching out the OLED panels for much higher resolution LCDs capable of going to 120Hz in wired mode. The headset also uses HTC’s new wider field of view lenses. If you already own SteamVR base stations & controllers, or plan to purchase those from Valve separately, the headset alone is priced at $799. The headset will ship from June 4. A full kit of Vive Pro 2 with SteamVR base stations and HTC’s original “wand” controllers will be available from August for $1399.

Do you already have the Vive Wireless Adapter? Are you planning to pair it with the Vive Pro 2? Converting from wired to wireless mode isn’t exactly an instantaneous change, so we’re curious how owners are planning to use this hardware. Let us know in the comments below what your plans are.

Captain ToonHead Mixes FPS And Tower Defense On Quest

Avatar

Captain ToonHead vs the Punks From Outer Space looks as ridiculous as it sounds, and it’s coming to Oculus Quest soon.

Developer Teravision Games has been working on this title for a while, and previously confirmed it was coming to PSVR and PC VR headsets. Today, though, it’s confirmed it will also reach Oculus Quest this summer. Check out the gameplay trailer below.

Captain ToonHead is described as a mix of first-person shooter and tower defense. In the game, you’re earth’s frontline of defense against invading hordes of enemies that include green minions and, yes, dinosaurs.

VR staples like dual-wielding weapons are in but, as you fight, you’ll also be building towers around the map that help you take down streams of opponents. Your own weapons, meanwhile, include flamethrowers and what looks like… used sandals. If you couldn’t already tell, the game certainly knows where its sense of humor rests.

Weapons can be upgraded, too. There’s no solid date for Captain ToonHead yet but it will launch on Quest at the same time as other platforms. It’s also available to wishlist on Steam right now.

Are you going to be picking up Captain ToonHead? Let us know in the comments below!

VR Tower Defense Game ‘Captain Toonhead’ Coming To Quest

Teravision Games’ comically over-the-top FPS tower defense game arrives on Oculus, SteamVR, and PSVR later this summer.

Columbia-based developer Teravision Games today announced that its upcoming VR tower defense game, Captain Toonhead vs the Punks from Outer Space, will be heading to the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 in addition to SteamVR and PlayStation VR headsets.

Available this summer, this zany FPS tower defense game will have you defending Earth from a never-ending onslaught of outrageous enemies, from t-rexes to cyber-C.H.I.C.K.E.N.s, using an arsenal of comically over-the-top weaponry. You’ll also have the ability to strategically place automatic “Toonret” towers capable of firing hot sauce-based projectiles and explosive “PIGñatas.”

Players take on the role of Elliott Salazar, a couch potato turned intergalactic superhero, Captain Toonhead, as they go head-to-head with various foes from the Voorhees P.U.N.K. Army. Armed with dual blasters and devastating chancla (flip-flops), you’ll battle wave after wave of ridiculous enemies across a series of futuristic environments in an effort to push back the galactic invasion. As you progress, you’ll unlock powerful weapons upgrades and take on increasingly difficult —but hilarious—enemies.

“Our team is so excited and honored to bring Captain ToonHead to Quest; the fastest growing VR platform!” says Enrique Fuentes, CEO of Teravision Games. “We can’t wait to have players all over the world enjoying building crazy tower and throwing chanclas at T-Rexs and cyberchickens this summer!”

In addition to the comically over-the-top enemies and eye-catching environments, the game will feature full voice acting from an eclectic cast of memorable characters designed to help immerse you in the absolutely ludicrous world of Captain Toonhead.

Personally, I’ve been eager to see more comedic VR games on the Oculus Quest. Existing titles such as Trover Saves The Universe and Job Simulator are excellent examples of the comedic potential afforded by immersive technology. Here’s hoping Captain Toonhead is able to inject a sense of silliness to the Oculus Quest platform.

Captain Toonhead vs the Punks from Outer Space launches later this summer on Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR headsets. No word yet on an official price tag.
