With King of Fighters XV just over a month away from release, SNK have revealed Kula Diamond, the latest addition to the roster.
Kula Diamond sports a range of ice-powers and is probably sick of people telling her to “Let it Go”. She made her debut in King of Fighters 2000 and has cropped up in various SNK titles since then. She appeared in the excellent King of Fighters XIV, the previous entry in the beat-em-up series, but she’s also turned up Dead or Alive 6 as a downloadable fighter.
She’s King of Fighters XV’s 38th launch fighter, so there’s at least one more fighter to be revealed. Kula Diamond completes Team Kroehen (the fighters are split into teams of three) so there’s just Team Ash missing a fighter. DLC will also add an additional nine fighters to the cast though it’s doubtful SNK will start teasing those until well after the game’s launch.
King of Fighters began its life in the arcades with King of Fighters ’94, though some characters hail as far back as 1991’s Fatal Fury: King of Fighters. Aside from this, the main series, there have been various spin-offs and side-entries including the 3D Maximum Impact series. It’s grown from a Street Fighter competitor into a series that’s forged its own path.
King of Fighters XV has been delayed a few times, but is on course for a February 17th 2022 release, landing on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. No, we’ve not forgotten the Xbox One, it’s not pencilled in for a release on that platform.
