Makati Celebrates National Arts Month with NFTs

  • The city government of Makati is launching an art exhibition, “Paint to Pixel,” in partnership with Draper Startup House Manila, showcasing digital works using augmented reality and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
  • The exhibit will run from February 7th to April 30th, 2023 and feature works from local creative communities, including Likha, Filipinas NFT, and Crypto Art Philippines, among others.
  • In celebration of National Arts Month, Makati City is the host city for multiple art exhibitions, including the annual Art Fair Philippines, which will take place at The Link Ayala from February 17th to 19th.

To celebrate the Nation Arts month, the city government of Makati in partnership with Draper Startup House Manila is set to launch the art exhibition PAINT TO PIXEL which will feature digital works that engage in augmented reality and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). 

The exhibit will be displayed at the Museo ng Makati and will run from February 7th to April 30th, 2023. The digital works featured will be from creative communities such as Likha, Scarletbox, Filipinas NFT, Laya Digital Curators and Crypto Art Philippines

“Through this exhibit, we can enable our local artists to have bigger dreams and create a bigger impact through technology and community,” Draper Startup House Manila said in a statement.

“Filipinas NFT will be featuring our first collection, Abante Babae, during the whole duration of the PAINT2PIXEL exhibit! The Abante Babae collection features works from 12 Filipina artists, both known and new to this space, which represents women empowerment infused with Filipino cultural and traditional elements,” Khat De Guzman of Filipinas NFT said in a statement.

Taking the theme “Ani Ng Sining: Bunga Ng Galing” of this year’s arts month, Makati City is also set to host multiple art exhibits within the locality. 

Art Fair Philippines, a platform for exhibiting and selling the best in modern and contemporary Philippine visual art, will also be hosting its major exhibit at The Link in Makati, City. The display will run from  February 17 – 19 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The ticket prices range from ₱200 to ₱450 for a Day Pass; concession tickets are priced at ₱200 for Makati Students with valid IDs, ₱350 for Students with valid IDs / Senior Citizens / PWDs.

In a post, the 10 Days of Art will also happen on February 10 – 19 around the National Capital Region (NCR) in line with Art Fair Philippines. The event will feature Public Art and Gallery & Museum Exhibitions as well as food and drinks.

In line with the celebration of National Arts Month 2023, Tezos Filipinos will also launch this month. 

The event will highlight the works of Filipino artists in the web3 space. Aside from that, its website along with a twitter space will also take off to build awareness by contributing to the digital footprint of the Philippine language, history, arts, and culture through the Tezos blockchain.
