Lost Ark: Best Paladin Chaos Dungeon Build

Date:

While Paladins are typically brought to Raids in Lost Ark as support, providing buffs, shields, and heals, in Chaos Dungeons they can absolutely dominate with the right build. Equipped with a strong selection of damaging skills, this build might make the Paladin your go-to class to use for farming Chaos Dungeons. Dipping your toes into Chaos Dungeons for the first time can be a little scary, but equipped with this guide, you’ll be laughing all the way to the Honing table.

We’ve tested each and every skill and tripod combination in order to make this guide, and we think you’ll like what you see. Using an often overlooked engraving in other forms of content, the Preemptive Strike Combat Engraving, is among the best options to consider in order to maximize damage output to these enemies. (A more detailed explanation is available on this page.)

Skills To Use In Chaos Dungeons As A Paladin

In the initial zone, move around and avoid harm until all enemies have spawned. Group them up and blast them away by using the big-hitters like Heavenly Blessings and Holy Explosion. Both of these skills should be able to one-hit kill normal and even named enemies. The remaining skills can also generally one-hit kill normal enemies.

In the second zone, gather the Named enemies and use Heavenly Blessings and Holy Explosion to kill 2 or 3 of them. Defeating Named enemies reduces your cooldowns by enough that you should be able to use them again for the next round of Named enemies. Utilize all the other abilities to eliminate the remaining normal enemies or wait until the next Named enemies have appeared to hit them with collateral damage.

For the Challenge-type enemy at the end of this zone, use your Awakening Skill: Alithanes’s Judgment to easily clear it.

Engravings Priority For Chaos Dungeons

For the Paladin, here are the Engravings you can prioritize for Chaos Dungeons using the Preemptive Strike build:

  • #1: Preemptive Strike
    • Guaranteed Crit on challenge type or lower monsters with full HP.
  • #2: Judgment
    • Increase Punishment skills damage and increase identity gauge generation. Only level 1 is advised.
  • #3: Keen Blunt Weapon
    • Increase Crit Damage; chance for reduced damage. (As support builds do not include this engraving it can be omitted to save on gold if you plan on doing group content.)

Here are the engravings that are supplementary to the Paladin class in general:

  • Blessed Aura
    • When active, Holy Aura provides Damage mitigation and heal over time.
  • Awakening
    • Reduces awakening cooldown, increases the number of uses.
  • Expert
    • Improves shielding and healing effectiveness.
  • Vital Point Hit
    • Improves stagger effectiveness.
  • Explosive Expert
    • Increases Bomb and Grenade Battle item limit.

Paladin Gem Priority In Chaos Dungeons

It would be more economical to only prioritize cooldown gems as a support for group content as your damage is not as important. However, if you simply want to maximize your Chaos Dungeon experience, follow this order:

  • #1: Heavenly Blessings Damage
  • #2: Heavenly Blessings Cooldown
  • #3: Holy Explosion Damage
  • #4: Holy Explosion Cooldown
  • #5: Wrath of God Damage
  • #6: Wrath of God Cooldown
  • #7: Executor’s Sword Damage
  • #8: Executor’s Sword Cooldown
  • #9: Charge Damage
  • #10: Dash Slash Damage
  • #11: Spin Slash Damage

Stat Allocation

Stat allocation comes from the Accessories (Necklace, Earring, and Rings). It can be very expensive to have a different set of Accessories for Chaos Dungeons, so you should choose those stats based on the class engraving you’ve chosen to play.

  • For the Blessed Aura Class Engraving, the Stat Priority should focus on either full Swiftness for faster cooldowns, casting animations, and improved movement speed or full Specialization for more frequent and more powerful heals.
  • For the Judgment Class Engraving, the Stat Priority should focus on Swiftness first for cooldown reductions, followed by Specialization.

Tripod Skill Tree Effects

At Transfer Skill Tree NPC, you should transfer tripod skill tree effects from looted gear to your equipped gear. (Don’t forget to save them in the Tripod inventory tab too for multiple builds!) This build only makes use of 16 Tripods leaving 2 remaining for you to choose from. Not every Tripod can be leveled up, so here are the Tripods that can be affected by Skill Tree Effects that are used in this Chaos Dungeon build:

  1. Spin Slash: Gravitational Blow, Jungle’s Law, Chain Attack
  2. Dash Slash: Quick Prep
  3. Charge: Quick Prep, Enhanced Strike, Ambush Attack
  4. Executor’s Sword: Stigmata, Challenger’s Will, Broad Slash
  5. Wrath of God: Jungle’s Law, Light’s Guardian
  6. Holy Explosion: Swift Fingers, Explosion Aftermath
  7. Heavenly Blessings: Agile Cast, Heavenly Reqiuem
