In the world of competitive League of Legends, there are numerous exciting League of Legends tournaments. Among the whats, whys, and hows of LoL, the League of Legends Championship Series, or LCS, is one of the most popular. The contest is globally famous and draws millions of spectators, and the 2021 edition promises to be a legendary bout in every possible way.

The famous season format features numerous significant changes this year. For instance, the season kick-off will take place over three weeks during the newly introduced LCS Lock In. In addition to the $150,000 grand prize, this tournament will also determine the team-to-beat in the 2021 season.

Additionally, the two-part season will feature games three days a week with five daily matches. Besides numerous other changes, the LCS 2021 season calendar will include the following:

• LCS Lock In (the newest addition to this year’s LCS LoL tournaments)
• Spring Split Regular Season
• Mid-Season Showdown
• Summer Split Regular Season
• LCS Championship.

Spring Split Regular Season

Following the LCS Lock In, teams will have six weeks to stay at the top or improve their performances in time for the Spring Split Regular Season (February 5 – March 14). The Spring Split is among the most anticipated LoL tournaments of the season, and with good reason.

This competition grants the first LCS championship title of the year to the winner. More importantly, the winner becomes the North American representative at Worlds. 

Mid-Season Showdown

The MSS takes place around the competitive year’s mid-point, between March 20 and April 11. The winner of the Mid-Season Showdown will have the honor of representing North America at the Mid-Season Invitational. 

The 2021 tournament will feature slight changes compared to previous editions, such as the first seed playing fourth seed. 

Summer Split Regular Season

The Summer Split tournament will take place for nine weeks between June 4 and August 1. This contest is among the most challenging LoL tournaments on the calendar, thanks to a triple Round Robin competition format.

Teams who are skilled and lucky enough to prevail against the competition will earn a shot at representing North American at the Worlds.

LCS Championship: The King Of LoL Tournaments

Three of the best teams from the LCS Championship automatically qualify into Worlds. Between August 7 and August 29, crews will face off against each other in a double-elimination event with additional combined Spring and Summer regular-season records.
