The latest battle pass event has descended upon League of Legends and it comes from the stars. Space Groove 2021 brings a long list of new missions, milestones and event-exclusive rewards. The event also marks the return of a fan-favorite limited-time game mode: One for All.

The Space Groove 2021 event runs from April 1, at 4:00 p.m. ET until May 4 at 2:59 a.m. ET and introduces a host of new skins, including the unfathomably adorable Space Groove Blitz & Crank Legendary skin. As always, the ultimate prize for this battle pass is the game’s newest Prestige Edition skin: Space Groove Lulu.

The following is a guide for all of the content unlocked with the Space Groove event pass. For a guide on all of the free content available instead, check out our Space Groove 2021 free-to-play missions guide.

Space Groove 2021 Battle Pass cost breakdown

Players can purchase the LoL Space Groove 2021 pass for 1,650 RP, which unlocks a reward coin payout for every game played during the event. Additionally, the pass comes with 4 bonus Space Groove loot orbs and 200 Space Groove event tokens. It also gives players access to 20 new milestone missions and four weekly win missions. For a full of details on all of these missions and pass perks, scroll down!

The larger Space Groove 2021 pass bundle costs 2,650 RP and comes with everything in the battle pass. Additionally, the bundle includes the Lulu champion and the Space Groove Lulu skin set. This set includes the regular edition skin, the matching summoner icon and a loading screen border. Players that are indecisive on purchasing the skin bundle can simply purchase the cheaper pass first and decide later if they want to pick up the skin. The bundle will only cost 1,000 RP at that point, so there’s additional no RP cost for doing this.

The 2,650 RP bundle is not discounted for players who already own Lulu as a champion.

Battle Pass Token Rewards

As mentioned above, unlocking the Space Groove pass gives players access to token rewards at the end of each game. Coins will be rewarded for every game played but the amount is higher for wins over losses.

Objective Reward
Win a game of Summoner’s Rift 10 tokens
Lose a game of Summoner’s Rift 5 tokens
Win a game of ARAM 6 tokens

Achieve a rank of 1 or 2 in TFT 8 tokens
Achieve a rank of 3 or 4 in TFT 6 tokens
Achieve a rank of 5 or 6 in TFT 4 tokens

Space Groove Milestone Missions List

Purchasing the pass also unlocks 20 milestone missions for players to complete throughout the duration of the event. These missions are sequential, so the first milestone needs to be completed for the second to unlock, and so on. All milestone missions require 15 activity points to be completed. Players get 5 activity points for any matchmade win, and 2 points for any matchmade loss.

Mission Reward
Milestone 1 Space Groove Event Pass Icon
Milestone 2 5 Prestige Points
Milestone 3 10 Win XP Boost

Weekly Win Missions

The largest chunk of Space Groove event coins come from the pass-exclusive Weekly Win missions. These four simple missions unlock a whopping 1,000 event tokens. The only real objective is sustained activity.

These missions unlock on a weekly basis throughout the event and require activity points to be completed in the same way as the milestone missions listed above. Once again, the rate is 5 points for a win and 2 points for a loss.

Mission Reward
Week 1 | Score 35 Points 230 tokens
Week 2 | Score 35 Points 230 tokens
Week 3 | Score 35 Points 230 tokens
Week 4 | Score 50 Points 310 tokens

Despite using the same scoring system, Weekly Win missions can be worked on alongside milestone missions.

RLCS X Championships, regional week-long events

Avatar

Published

on

Psyonix announced it will not hold an in-person LAN esports event for the Rocket League World Championships this year. Instead, Rocket League esports will feature multiple week-long RLCS X Championships that will feature the best teams in action.

RLCS X Championships

Instead of a single global event, the RLCS X Championships will feature multiple regional events. Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America will each have their own regional event.

Psyonix also announced a new “best-of-set” format. Rocket League esports teams must win multiple series in order to win a set. The game developer hopes to use this to test the endurance of the best teams on the planet.

  • A single “Best-of Set” consists of up to three “Best-of” series
  • For example, a “Best-of-7 Set” can be up to three Best-of-7s
  • The first team to win two Best-of-7 series will win the Set
  • For the RLCS X Championships, there will be a combination of “Best-of-5 Sets” and “Best-of-7 Sets.”

Format, Prizing and Schedule

The top two teams from Oceania and South America will qualify for the RLCS X Championships. In both regions, the top two teams will duke it out in a Best-of-Set, where they’ll need to win two best-of-7 series out of three to win the set. The winner is the RLCS X Champion for that region.

The top six teams from North America and Europe will compete in a page playoffs format. In Round 1 and the Quarterfinals, teams will have to win two Best-of-5 series out of three to win a given Best-of Set. While in the semifinals and grand finals, teams must win two Best-of-7 series out of three to win a given Best-of Set. The last team standing becomes the RLCS X Champion of the region.

The $1 million prize pool gets divided for the four regions in the World Championship.

  • Europe: $400,000
  • North America: $400,000
  • Oceania: $100,000
  • South America: $100,000

The RLCS X Championship kicks off on June 15 with the European and North American matches. All matches will stream live on Twitch and YouTube.

Unknown 9Z Team eliminates Vitality from BLAST Premier Showdown

Avatar

Published

on

The unknown 9z Team managed to eliminate Vitality in the first round of the BLAST Premier Showdown, in what is likely Cédric “RpK” Guipouy’s final game withthe French team.

9Z, a team that qualified for the Showdown through the South American qualifier, was marked as the heavy underdog going into the series. To make things worse, the team was forced to play with Rajohn “easTor” Linato as a stand-in.

Vitality seemed to be in control of the game on the first map, as it comfortably won 9z’s Nuke map pick. It was in-game leader Dan “apEX” Madesclaire who showed his team the way, as he topped the charts at the end of the map.

Going into the second map, Vitality seemed set to win the series in a comfortable 2-0 fashion. 9z had not played Overpass much recently, and even against weaker South American opponents the team only had a 25% winrate.

The first half went as expected. 9z got a small lead on the favored CT side and reached halftime with 9 rounds to its name.

But Vitality failed to close out the game and as its defense fell flat, 9Z took advantage by extending its lead to a surprise victory. Pushing the series to a third map was already surprising, but 9Z went above and beyond that. They crushed Vitality to start off the third map and took an unexpected 9-0 lead. Vitality looked stunned and disorganized but eventually managed to gather themselves.

In what looked like the start of a historic comeback, the Frenchmen closed the gap. At 13-10, they had won eight maps in a row and were in control of the economy. But thanks to some incredible heroics by Santino “try” Rigal, 9z did the unthinkable and won the map. Vitality is eliminated from the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, and 9Z will get the chance to continue the dream run in the next round against Heroic.

This is also a devastating blow for Vitality and an unfortunate end to RpK’s run with the team. The team has suffered early eliminations in a string of events and while this could partially be explained away by the consistently stiff competition, a loss to a little-known 9z squad shows that Vitality has some deep problems right now. The team is set to replace RpK with Jason “Kyojin” Nguyen moving forward, but only time will tell if that’s enough to get the team back on top.

Activision announces a $2 million prize pool while revealing details of the tournament.

An amazing opportunity has been announced for Call of Duty fans by Activision. They have officially revealed that they’re bringing back the Call of Duty Mobile World Championship, presented by Sony, which starts on June 3. A total prize pool of $2 million (USD) has also been announced.

Criteria for participation

Sony’s newest flagship smartphone, Xperia 1 III, will be the official mobile device of the World Championship. The Call of Duty Mobile World Championship will be open to everyone across the world. Players who meet the minimum ranked criteria can participate in the game events and qualify for the regional stages. An official list of all regions will be released soon. Players must attain level 10 or higher to take part in Ranked Multiplayer matches. They can also participate via tournaments, the details of which will be revealed later by Activision. Players must be 18 or more to participate in the tournament at the time of registration. The whole tournament will be broadcasted on the newly made COD Mobile Esports YouTube channel.

Five stages of the tournament

Single play mode will be the first stage of the tournament, where players should score at least 60 points in 10 matches on any of the four weekends. The players that have successfully cleared Stae One will then proceed on to Stage Two, which is team play. At this point, the players will form teams and play in them for the further rounds. Qualifiers are the third stage, where an elimination-style format will be used to cut down the competition. Then, the top scorers will go on to the next round called the Regional Playoffs. This will further carry out the elimination process of the players and only the top players will proceed to the World Championship Finals.

Valorant Patch 2.07 is already out now with a few changes and bug fixes. Now Riot has confirmed that coaching slots will be introduced with the upcoming Valorant Patch 2.08.

Riot introduced the Valorant Champions tour last year and they seem quite serious with the Valorant Esports scene. Valorant pros were asking for the coaching slot for a long time and Riot has officially confirmed it is coming with the next patch update.

Riot’s Statement on Coaching Slot

Riley Yurk, Valorant Esports strategy manager said,

As an esport, we continue to be excited at the prospect of coaches playing a larger role in matches and plan to provide more analytical tools in the future.

Riley thinks that the coaching slot is very important for both coaches and players. According to him they will implement coaching with the 2.08 update and will take feedback regularly to improve the feature.

Additionally, the coaching slot update is quite significant in the era of COVID, where all the competitive matches are being played online. However, Riot should be aware of all the bugs and glitches like Valve’s spectator bug for which 37 CSGO coaches got banned.
