The Super Week was full of ups and downs. Now, we head into a standard weekend of matches as the LEC table begins to take shape. After four games of LEC action, the table is already starting to take shape. The standout is Rogue and Fnatic who both sit top of the table at 4-0. Vitality had a poor week one, losing all three matches, however, they did manage to pick up a win on the first day of week two as they look to stay close to the pack.

Week one recaps – Day One, Two, Three

Week two recap –  Day One

SK Gaming v Excel

Despite picking up the first blood, SK was unable to turn it into an early lead. Excel maintained their slim 1k lead into the mid-game, as the match looked like it hung in the balance. The match remained close through the mid-game, though Excel had managed to increase their lead slightly to 2k. With big objectives starting to come into play, Excel would need to build on its lead. As the game approached the 20-minute stage, SK had clawed back the deficit to 1k, before flowing it away in a pre-Baron fight which saw them drop two members and concede the Baron. Excel extended their lead with the first Baron, but it was the fight for the game’s second that won them the match. SK desperately attempted to hold them off, but Excel managed to secure it, though only two members escaped with the buff. Sadly for SK, with members back on the Rift, Excel won a crucial team fight in the mid-lane and forced their way into the SK base with the Baron buff. The win moved Excel ahead of SK and onto a 2-3 lead after two weeks of play.

MAD Lions v Astralis

It’s a first blood trade on the bot side, while Astralis managed to pick it up MAD instantly picked up a kill for themselves. After this early exchange, the game cooled until the the13th-minute, when Astralis broke the deadlock. Astralis followed it up with a well-orchestrated 3v2 dive on the bot lane as they walked away with two clean kills. With that, Astralis took a slight 1k lead into the mid-game. Unfortunately for Astralis, they were unable to hold that lead, losing a major 5v5 fight in the bot lane and handing over a 4k lead to MAD. Despite being behind, Astralis pulled off a massive win around the Baron, acing MAD and securing the Baron. As if often the way when you’re struggling, Astralis threw away another fight moments after the Baron buff had expired after they’d managed to neutralize the gold difference. The back and forth continued, but once again it was MAD that took the fight, and this time they managed to end the game off of it. It was a hard-fought victory, but MAD moved to 3-2 as they maintained their push for the top of the LEC.

It was an important comeback moment for BDS,  with Rogue getting the result they wanted from a top lane dive they lost two members for it. Rogue moved to 4k ahead, as they start to pressure BDS. BDS almost found a recovery play, picking off two members of Rogue early in the fight. Rogue managed to secure the Drake, and take out the remaining members of BDS as they extended their lead. With the Baron and Soul Drake secured, Rogue we’re easily able to knock down BDS as they go top of the LEC.

Fnatic turned that into another fight victory moments later, this time securing three more kills and a Rift Herald. With just 20-minutes on the clock, Fnatic found themselves knocking at the Misfits base, with a cool 6k gold separating them. They caught out three members of Misfits as they picked up a Baron buff without any trouble. With Baron buff secured for Fnatic, Misfits had to force a fight which they couldn’t win. Fnatic won the fight and then took down the Misfits base as they maintained their unbeaten 5-0 run, and joined Rogue in the first place.

G2 picked their fight as the Soul Drake spawned for Vitality, while G2 had control of the Drake, it was Vitality that had the damage. Vitality dropped three members, claimed the Soul Point, and claimed the Baron. Vitality moved to 8k ahead. G2 fought hard to defend their base, but Vitality was too strong as G2 fell.
