Week Three Recap – Day One,

Excel Esports v Team BDS

XL came into the game as one of the sides in first place, while BDS struggled to get a grip on the Summer Split. It was the ideal start for XL, picking up the first blood within 4-minutes. XL remained dominant in the early game, with BDS unable to answer the aggression. The mid-game was more of the same for XL, with Baron not on the Rift they’d amassed a 9k lead already. Within minutes of it spawning, XL secured an uncontested Baron as they looked to wrap up this game. BDS made a last-ditch attempt to stay in the game, but with XL so far ahead they were swiftly dealt with as XL took the win.

  • Teams: XL – BDS
  • Time: 24:02
  • Kills: 16-2
  • Turrets: 9-0
  • Gold: 50.9k – 34.8k
  • Dragons: 2-1
  • Barons: 1-0

Rogue v SK Gaming

RGE SK

Another side at the top of the LEC in RGE, faced off against one that’s struggling, SK. A disaster start for SK, as RGE claimed the first blood. With 11-minutes on the clock, only the one kill had been secured, however, RGE had a slim 1k lead from their first blood. The mid-game was when both sides woke up, a second Drake fight saw most of the action. With SK claiming their second, a 3-for-2 team fight win saw RGE increase their lead slightly. A big moment in the early parts of the late game came after RGE blew an opportunity to claim the Baron. With a poor setup, SK came out on top and were able to claim the Baron. SK followed that up with a third Drake and another team fight victory as they moved into a gold lead with 26-minutes on the clock. RGE secured the second Baron, and with they rallied and looked to end. Forcing their way into the SK base, they couldn’t stop them as RGE avoided a shock loss.

  • Teams: RGE – SK
  • Time: 31:04
  • Kills: 13-10
  • Turrets: 8-4
  • Gold: 58.2k – 50.6k
  • Dragons: 1-3
  • Barons: 1-1

Team Vitality v Astralis

VIT AST

Two sides that sit 3-3 in the LEC face-off, as AST look to continue their push towards the top. As for VIT, they need a win to stay close to the other top sides. A huge first blood for AST as they secured an early lead. AST continued to pick up kills across the Rift, with the bot-side a clear focus early on. Next up, AST looked to force a dive on the top side of the map. But they fumble the play, giving over two kills and losing the first-blood tower to VIT as they stole away the lead. While AST maintained a kill lead, it was VIT that had the 1k gold lead as Baron spawned on the map. For AST, winning fights was starting to pay off, with VIT unable to handle their aggression. With Baron now the focus of both sides, the gold lead was evened out with 25-minutes on the clock. When it counted most, however, VIT won a fight as they moved toward the Baron. Baron was secured for VIT as they moved into a lead and a winning position.

Even with Baron and all three inhibitors down, VIT struggled to break down AST. Eventually, as Baron wore off, VIT finally found a way to end it and secure an important victory.

  • Teams: VIT – AST
  • Time: 34:06
  • Kills: 11-11
  • Turrets: 11-4
  • Gold: 65.1k – 56.3k
  • Dragons: 3-1
  • Barons: 1-0

MAD Lions v Misfits Gaming

MAD MSF

Another side looking to keep with the sides at the top could MAD keep up the pressure, or could MSF cause an upset. First blood was secured by MAD, as they looked to keep up with the sides at the top of the LEC. With only 11-minutes on the clock, MAD had racked up a 3k lead over MSF, who looked completely out of sorts. With Baron about to spawn, MAD’s lead was 5k, though MSF had 2 Drakes with a 3rd about to spawn. MSF managed to secure a third Drake but as a result, gave over the Baron to MAD. With MAD looking to siege the MSF base with Baron, they lose the fight and hand it over to MSF who now looked primed to make a late charge to win it. MSF continued to keep up the pressure, countering the aggression by MAD at the Drake as MSF once again won a fight, and this time it resulted in them claiming the Infernal Soul.

With Baron back up on the Rift, MSF force a play out of MAD by baiting them. Despite a good start, MAD crumbled at the Drake as MSF once again won at an objective as they now had a way to end out this game. MSF found themselves inside the MAD base, and with victory almost secured, they failed to close it out as MAD respawned and saved their base. Somehow this game continued as neither team knew how to end. It’s another Drake play and another win for MSF. For some reason, MSF looked to reset rather than end the game as the game clock moved into the 35-minute mark. Another Baron, another fight win for MSF and this time they did end as they secured a huge upset win.

  • Teams: MAD – MSF
  • Time: 35:58
  • Kills: 17-29
  • Turrets: 5-7
  • Gold: 64.5k – 66.3k
  • Dragons: 1-4
  • Barons: 1-1

G2 Esports v Fnatic

MAD MSF 1

The only game anyone cares about, as G2 and FNC took to the Rift. It was FNC who got off the better, picking up early an first blood. With not even 10-minutes on the clock, FNC had a 2k lead and four kills on the board as they had G2’s number. A slower mid-game saw FNC maintain their lead at 2.5k and with Baron spawning on the map FNC looked in control. Just like that, we got a fight, with FNC taking down 3 members of G2 as they moved quickly towards the Baron. FNC secured it, with G2 unable to contest as FNC found an early win condition in the matchup. FNC force a fight at the Soul Drake but G2 managed to steal as they delay FNC’s win condition. Another Baron secured for FNC as G2 once again had no answer for it. G2 defended their base but FNC secured Cloud Soul as they continued to dominate. With a fight win after securing the Drake, FNC were able to knock down the G2 base and win in dominant fashion.

With Drake secured

  • Teams: G2 – FNC
  • Time: 33:18
  • Kills: 2-16
  • Turrets: 4-11
  • Gold: 56.1k – 65.9k
  • Dragons: 2-4
  • Barons: 0-2
