Patch 11.16 for League of Legends will come in a heartbeat, but those who have been smitten with the Sentinels of Light event will need to begin some closure as it will end a day before the next patch hits the server.

Fortunately for those who have just gotten accustomed to the recent Patch 11.15, it’ll just be a few more weeks before Patch 11.16 will hit the servers on Aug. 11.
The last patch had a myriad of minor champion adjustments, and even a hotfix for its newest champion, Akshan, due to a mediocre win rate since his release. It was tweeted by Jeevun “Jag” Sidhu that Akshan “needed a little help” as he was not strong enough to hold his own among the other mid laners. This doesn’t go without saying that the developers also intentionally underpowered the marksman because of his ability to immediately revive teammates after defeating their killer. The hotfix was intended to at least bring his win rate up by 2%, which they have succeeded in, although, he still boasts the worst win rate in three lanes across all ranks.

Whether or not Patch 11.16 will have a meta-shifting change is currently unknown, but could have wider changes if the balance team believes if the champions or items need them.
One champion that may receive needed adjustments, be it visually or through his abilities, Dr. Mundo was stated in the preview for Patch 11.15 to have an ongoing investigation in which developers may adjust him. The team was waiting until the next patch to see if anything were to go awry with how they balanced him since his visual and gameplay upgrade in Patch 11.12. Whether that be in the form of a buff or nerf is also to be later announced for a future patch preview.
As far as the Sentinels of Light event that is going on, Patch 11.16 will see the end of the month-long event, which has given the game a copious amount of lore for various champions. Since its release in Patch 11.14, the event saw the release of numerous skins and even a new game mode, Ultimate Spellbook, that added a bit more depth than modes prior. Sentinels of Light will end a day before Patch 11.16 comes on Aug. 10.
