Mercer | Mettl has appointed Kangan Shekhar as VP – human resources and special projects as part of its endeavour to strengthen its HR operations and expand its global presence.
Shekhar will be responsible for internal collaboration within the talent acquisition and management firm, and Marsh McLennan. She will also help align organisational development and effectiveness with achieving Mercer | Mettl’s growth objectives.
Backed by almost two decades of experience in human resources, Shekhar is known for her expertise in the mergers and acquisitions domain across industries, including banking, finance, technology and pharmaceuticals.
Siddhartha Gupta, CEO, Mercer | Mettl, expressed his delight at having “someone of Shekhar’s calibre join us at Mettl”. He also expressed confidence “that her extensive experience will positively impact and strengthen Mercer | Mettl”.
Shekhar moves from Mercer Consulting, where she worked for the India consulting business and managed the Sri Lanka market for over nine years.
In her new role, Shekhar will help the Company reach “its goals and endeavours” as it works to expand its global presence. She will drive the performance-management processes to support a high-performance culture at an individual and organisational level. She will also lead the rewards and recognition strategy to help achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Shekhar began her career with Hewitt Associates in 2003, where she spent close to four years. She then spent three years across American Express and Barclays Finance, respectively, in their rewards teams. Her scope of work expanded beyond India to countries in South Asia and the Middle East.
She was also associated with Towers Watson, where she headed the talent and rewards practice for the North region.
Having already been exposed to the “great culture and leadership” of the firm, Shekhar is “thrilled about the new challenges and opportunities” that await her in this role and is looking forward to working towards Mettl’s success.
