Kristian “⁠k0nfig⁠” Wienecke has decided not to re-sign with Complexity as he is close to completing a move to Astralis, according to Jaxon. The Dane’s contract with the Dallas-based organization reportedly expires on January 1, 2022.

The report comes during a transitional period in Astralis. With the current contracts of three of their players, Peter “⁠dupreeh⁠” Rasmussen, Andreas “⁠Xyp9x⁠” Højsleth, and Emil “⁠Magisk⁠” Reif, as well as coach Danny “⁠zonic⁠” Sørensen set to expire at the end of the year, rumors have been swirling around the Danish powerhouse’s future for months.

At the moment, the Danish organization seems to only have the other three members locked in for 2022, including in-game leader Lukas “⁠gla1ve⁠” Rossander, who recently inked a new three-year deal with the team, Lucas “⁠Bubzkji⁠” Andersen, and newest member Philip “⁠Lucky⁠” Ewald.

Further fueling the rumors, Xyp9x recently spoke out about his situation and his future with Astralis after he sat out the group stage ESL Pro League Season 14 to make room for Lucky, saying that he is exploring his options and that nothing is set in stone.

k0nfig is currently on medical leave in Complexity after he suffered a wrist injury. Although most recent updates suggest his recovery is going well, the 24-year-old is expected to be out of action until at least November after Complexity signed Marcelo “⁠coldzera⁠” David as his replacement for their upcoming events, including BLAST Premier Fall Groups, IEM Fall, and PGL Major Stockholm, should the team qualify.

k0nfig‘s departure could open up a possibility of the Brazilian star retaining his spot in the team on a permanent basis beyond his current deal with the organization.
