David “Justsaiyan” Shan retires from Hearthstone right before the next Grandmasters, and it’s a shame. He does point out that he loves esports still and will always be a fan, but accepting a spot in the Grandmasters would delay his other goals, whatever they may be. We’re very curious about what will be next for the great Hearthstone ace that is Justsaiyan, not that he retires from the Blizzard game.

A Sad, But Heartwarming Moment

Justsaiyan, as he retires, has many people that he acknowledges and thanks. From Amnesiac and Muzzy, Hunterace and Jarla, there are people he seemed proud to know and acknowledge. However, he was very close to reconsidering, according to the Twitlonger.

“I’m still excited for the new expansion, and the nostalgia of classic almost made me reconsider. I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished in Hearthstone and the friends I’ve made along the way. Seeing Amnesiac and Muzzy succeed, getting to follow suit in 2018 in the time of Hunterace, and seeing Jarla’s consistency rewarded has been more than I could ask for. I even got to commentate at worlds the year Lion won. I’m glad to have gone down this esports journey, and I thank you for being there and chasing the dream with me.”

Nostalgia pulled him in originally, and it almost kept him in Hearthstone. But, if it means it’s time to do something else and face new challenges, we understand that. We remember his time playing for Tempo Storm, but now it’s time for a new Grandmaster to take the spot. We have no idea who it will be, but the rumor was that it would be Pavelingbook. Sadly, that was not to be. Instead, it was the equally worthy Martin Tincho. We’re more curious what his actual next move will be.

Will Justsaiyan stay in the world of esports, and say, cast Hearthstone full-time or coach? He could also take his knowledge into the development of various card games and bring his expertise to bear to improve card games just in general. Whatever comes next, we’ll always be grateful for what Justsaiyan brought to the world of Hearthstone.
