Jeep Avenger to kick-start brand’s electric transition

Date:

Jeep has revealed the Avenger, a new electric SUV, ahead of its official launch in October.

The car will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show, before arriving in UK dealerships early next year.

It will be the first full-electric Jeep to go on sale in Europe.

A range of around 250 miles is expected from the new model, which utilises the Stellantis ECMP platform – the one that underpins the Peugeot e-2008 and Vauxhall Mokka-e.

Unlike its stablemates, the Avenger will be offered with all-wheel-drive

Jeep claims the Avenger will offer “impressive ground clearance” and “a modern and technologically advanced interior”.

“The all-new Avenger will offer Jeep brand capability that is rightsized for the European market,” said Antonella Bruno, head of Jeep Europe at Stellantis, “This modern, fun and emotional SUV will appeal to a growing set of customers who are looking for a capable, compact, modern and all-electric Jeep brand alternative to the current players.”

Mild-hybrid powertrains are also expected to join the line-up when the car officially goes on sale.

Jeep introduced its first plug-in hybrid models in 2020, with the launch of the Compass 4xe and Renegade 4xe. It also offers plug-in hybrid power on the new Grand Cherokee.

By 2030, the American brand said all its European models will be electric.
