LG Display’s concept fitness bike is straight out of The Jetsons.

LG Display recently unveiled the LG Virtual Ride, a next-gen stationary bike designed to immerse riders in their workouts. The indoor fitness device isequipped with three vertical 55-inch OLED displays which connect to form a large curved screen that extends from the ceiling above the rider. The screen curvature features a radius of 1,500R and built-in Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) technology, promising a captivating visual experience.

This massive screen can display a variety of eye-catching visuals, from a picturesque countryside to a sleepy cobblestone village. The bike itself is a standard Ciclotte exercise bike, which features a futuristic “circular shape” that perfectly complements LG’s visionary displays. As you cycle, the LG Virtual Ride displays valuable data such as total distance traveled as well as your current elevation.

“We will continue to provide differentiated value to our customers through OLED’s infinite potential while also moving forward with integrating our business into diverse industries,” said Yeo Chun-ho, Head of Business Development Division at LG Display in a press release.

The LG Virtual Ride will be available to demo at this year’s CES, which takes place from January 5th to the 8th in Las Vegas. Much like the company’s recently unveiled Media Chair, LG’s next-gen stationary bike is a concept product, which means the odds of an official consumer release are slim to none. Both of these devices are designed to showcase the potential of LG Display’s curved display technology in both fitness and entertainment.

It’s no secret that the immersive fitness industry is poised to explode in 2022. Popular VR headsets like the Meta Quest 2, when paired with fitness apps like Supernatural or BOXVR, can serve as effective tools for cardio-based workouts. While not a VR headset per se, the LG Virtual Ride is another example of technology being used to immerse users in digital fitness experiences difficult to replicate in a real-world setting. Plus, it looks freaking awesome.
